tixx 8 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 hey guys, just came across the emby media server, and the new plugin in development that manages the kodi database. when the emby server scrapes content, does it also cache all the artwork? And then do the kodi clients pull the artwork directly from emby, or do they have to individually pull it down themselves from the web? I think trying to implement the central kodi library using mysql, each client still has to cache images from the web individually, which takes time and unecessary downloads. Cheers
Angelblue05 4132 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The caching is controlled by Kodi. You can force it to cache all the images at once using the texturecache tool: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/21706-how-to-precache-images-using-texturecachepy/ The Emby for add-on will still replace artwork if it is changed in Emby.
im85288 1493 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Yes each Kodi client will have its own copy of the Artwork, once the initial sync is completed any new artwork found will be sent to each connected client. This replaces the complexity of MySQL with a setup that is simple and uses the power of Emby for syncing your media watch/play state etc
