Logos302 86 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 With windows 10 just around the corner and the exclusion of MediaCenter, from those that are using it how ready is Emby Theater for running as a primary setup? Do we have the chocolate theme, what plug-in are available compared to MBC (what is the new acronym , EC?, EMC? EBC?) This is not meant to offend any one just looking for some advise as to whether switching is a good idea at this point.

This is not meant to offend any one just looking for some advise as to whether switching is a good idea at this point. Ready for running as a primary setup? Almost yes. If you don't mind having it crash on your once in a while, or needing to reboot once every few weeks then sure. I've been running Emby Theater for well over a year, if not longer, now and have been very happy with it. No, there are no themes (yet. But from my understanding it's something they're hoping to bring over) Launch your Emby Server and have a look at the Emby Theater plugins for Theater specific plugins, most server side plugins translate alright over to the Theater clients well, but some do have issues (sorry, I don't use too many). TBH, unless there's a specific reason why you need Emby Classic (on top of Windows Media Centre) I'd drop it like 4th period french and toss Emby Theater on.
Luke 42077 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Those with full alpha area access can see the heavy app testing that is going on with a couple apps. Once those are done, Emby Theater will have my (almost) full attention 3

Luke 42077 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 None. It will be out in the open as always. Only time we do closed testing is if there are limited seats available for to store policies 1

If you don't mind having it crash on your once in a while, or needing to reboot once every few weeks Add the following. 1. Skip and chapter buttons closes player 2. Cannot get the external player to work on latest version 3. Would like to select subtitles with right click while viewing video Edited June 3, 2015 by two wire

two wire 2 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 When I click on the skip or chapter buttons, the player stops and goes back to the "Overview" page. I have to click on the play button again to continue. Your player might work properly, but my player acts as I described. As far as external players, you need to raise an issue if you want it resolved. Consider it raised.
Luke 42077 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Please see http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/790-how-to-report-a-problem/ Report some detailed information on the external player problem, and then the issue will be raised.
aerospyke 4 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I am also looking at doing JUST this. I want to replace WMC7 with MBT and my main requests are being able to record and watch live/slipped TV and good integration watching bluray discs in the media center computer, as the rest of my media enjoyment I already use with emby client. Its natural evolution so hopefully it will all work. I can't find any feature list of what it does and management of live tv and recorded TV I thought would be something that is worth putting in that list if it does it.
aerospyke 4 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 hopefully not silly question, but can I install the theatre on the same PC as my WMC/MBC combo as a test or do I have to uninstall MBC in the interim?

aerospyke 4 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Wicked... Gunna try it out this weekend. Anyone had experience with emby and logitech harmony remotes? Don't want different software as I already have the emby remote app and an expensive harmony and both need to stay.

I use a Harmony One remote with my main unit and a Harmony 880 with my bedroom unit. Works perfectly. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

LASooner 24 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 You can have them both installed on the same machine. In fact it's a really good way of determining if a bug is happening server side or client side, because you can test the problem in both Emby Classic and Emby Theater on the same PC.
