Deathsquirrel 745 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 the hover over overlay and/or the tap and hold menu are both quicker ways to play media than the new pop up which requires a few more clicks to start playing your media...and does not load more data to display Sure, that exists. This is much more obvious for novice users. This may not be the right solution but they're trying to address something real in a beta release. People that don't like it can and should say so, but politely. I like the change and they should hear that as well.
bluemonkey07 590 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 You've been able to turn off card view for months. In fact, it is an option that has to be turned on normally. Just click on the filter menu in the web client and switch from Poster Card to Poster. If it doesn't go away, it is a bug in your version. If it is a bug, it will be fixed.I thought that too, but this setting does not affect the movies/suggestions tab
diaz1510 154 Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Don't get too certain that your opinions represent the majority. Generally only the upset complain. I like the new popups in the movie and TV pages just fine. They make playing without reloading a page that can be a bit slow to load a bit easier than it was. Make it optional if they like but I'm not having problems with that function. Never said I was certain I was the majority, in fact, I may be in the minority as I totally agree that only the upset complain..I don't post much when things are working fine...which, I must admit, is unfair on my part. I love Emby but what attracts me to it so much (at least initially) was the ability to really customize it the way I like...most likely not the way you like it, I understand, but having the options to switch, nonetheless, would be great. I am not sure of what complete changes were made in this recent upgrade (back-end stuff)as I've mentioned I am simply an end-user, but as far as the UI was concerned, I had no issues the way it was and loved it. Anyway, if I hadn't said it before, thank you Emby for a great product and hopefully we can just get some options... 1
Tolerant 74 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Saying "only the upset complain" is a very dumb remark. If someone is happy they do not COMPLAIN. They might fail to show their happiness but they don't complain. Duh.
chef 3810 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Although the lead developers may not have written much in this thread, you can imagine that it has been read. I would imagine that with in the next couple days we'll see a server release that will probably deal with many of the UI options mentioned here. Disabling some of the new features and what not. That is the beautiful thing that emby/media browser has stood for since the beginning, listening to user input and what everyone likes and dislikes. It is what makes us more versatile than the competition. Weather or not we see complete changes in the next public stable release, I can only speculate. However, I would imagine that note has been taken here. The community is kind of split 50/50 with regards to liking the UI changes. 1
CashMoney 94 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 For me personally it's a tough decision. I like the current UI changes, I like the new pop up ... but I also don't really see the point of it; to me it seems like an unnecessary extra step. When you hover over your items you should get your oft used functions. If you want to expand on those functions then you click on it and enter the details view. In the case of TV shows or media with multiple new items like music, then I guess the oldest item should be shown when you click on it as has been suggested. Perhaps a middle ground where by the popup only appears much like the old one used to; for TV shows with multiple new episodes. No popup for movies. So basically any media with multiple (new) items should get the popup, single item content (such as movies) should not. Either way Emby goes, I'm (and my household will be) happy

FrostByte 5392 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Except for the multiple (new) part. You can have one new unwatched episode in a season, but the pop-up screen still come up for a season because it's a grouping. You just don't get any arrows at the top to scroll through the new items because there is only one Edited June 3, 2015 by FrostByte
speechles 2055 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 As of Version 3.0.5641.2 it seems the "popup" is respecting the "enable items preview" when told NO. Nice work there. Is there any way to get this change into the android app as well? It is such a distraction having it appear. Is it possible for "custom CSS" to also work in the android app? If its intent is replicate the browser experience, it needs this to compete. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
