Forcing/Redirecting to HTTPS

I've set up HTTPS and got a certificate just because and have set up external HTTPS reporting as explained on github:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Hosting-Settings

When trying to go to my URL I want users to be redirected to HTTPS without having to type in https:// every time. I thought this is what the above was supposed to do but when typing in my address I'm still using HTTP.

Is this possible to accomplish this through Emby or through some other means?

Awesome, it's a minor convenience but one that I think many users would appreciate.

You could setup an Apache/Nginx reverse proxy to redirect your HTTP url to HTTPS!

Any news about an option to redirect http traffic to https (also internal/LAN) without nginxing or apaching or using browser extentions?

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Edit: And btw, how about using stronger ciphersuite and key exchange parameters? Emby Connect, app.emby.media and tv.emby.media runs with ECDHE_RSA with P-256 and AES_256_GCM. Below fast and dirty comparison between my router and Emby server over https without Connect. Both use certificates with certificate parameters and are signed by my own ca. As far as I'm informed, the server sets the parameters like ciphers accepted etc...

Router:                                                                                                                       Emby Server:

It would be kinda nice, if the server prefers TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA256 , TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 and TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 in first instances, when someone connects directly to it without and *.emby.media redirection.

Hey there,

Coming from PLEX and switching to EMBY. Thx for your work, it's a nice work.

Actually, I would like to know if this force SSL/HTPS is set up (did not find the option, but maybe I am blind) now ?

Thx for the answer in advance.

Best,

Hello, are there still plans to have the built in ability to redirect http to https? It seems like a pretty simple function (one line in Apache conf). I was really hoping not to have to setup a web sever just to redirect requests to emby. Thanks.

HI, we already have this if you enable https on your server and set it to required.
