Version 3.0.5621.4 - Behaving oddly with Music

Woke up this morning to a notice to update the server, did so, restarted... then got prompted to update servermc and something else and restarted it again.

 

Then I noticed this oddness... so far I've only noticed it with music files. But it's telling me that stuff that has been on my server for years is new but in some cases it's only odd songs from an album and in others it's the entire album.  Now I have nothing in my music collection that has not been listened too and there are zero items that are unplayed... Now it's telling me that there are hundreds of tracks unplayed, even though it shows them as played.

 

First image shows a few items added to the home page, all of which are marked as played and if you unmark them and remark them as played, refresh/rescan refuse to go away.

 

Second image is from the music page and shows more of them, as you can see they are marked as played... yet remain showing as unplayed, either full or partial tracks in each one.

 

 

Other issues noticed within the web browser.... Nothing updates anymore... and when I say nothing, I mean any visual things that used to happen no longer do (this has been an issue for a while now and has been raised before without any one acknowledging the issue even exists)

 

 

 

Examples

 

On any screen within the web browser/client once an item has been played it no longer displays the watched marker (green tick in the corner)

 

Server dashboard - When running a scan (or anything else) the progress bar used to auto update itself to show progress, now it doesn't unless you manually refresh the page.

 

Those two things can be applied across the board to virtually everything you can view from the server dashboard to the web/browser client.

 

The fullscreen button no longer works to exit fullscreen and can only be exited by hitting the esc key.

 

On multiple and seemingly random occasions, when whatever you are playing finishes, it no longer exits from the play screen back to the previous screen forcing you to do it by hitting the exit button in the top right corner of the video window.... which then has the added result of not marking the video as watched.

 

New overlay on the play screen takes up 50% or more of the screen whilst making it impossible to see what you are watching... This needs to be removed entirely or only allowed when you pause something.  Nothing should interfere in any way with the ability to watch something.

 

 

 

Now this is just a personal opinion... But there seems to be a trend of ignoring and not fixing existing issues in favour of adding new visual/design changes that are poorly thought out. Why for example is it that on the Home screen, you can't simply hit the play button and play what ever it is that you want to play... Instead for shows that have multiple episodes, you are prompted with a further pop up asking you if you want to play any of the episodes contained for that show... and that could run into dozens of hundreds of items depending on where you are in that particular show. In addition to that popup, there is now another one that takes up a large portion of the middle of the screen asking you the same thing... Which one pops up depends on if you hit the play icon or just click on the item in question.  Both are adding additional steps that simply aren't needed and I assume require extra coding, time and effort to duplicate what is already there and irritating the user by making them select yet again what they want to do... It's the same as asking 'are you sure you want to watch that' when you've clearly already stated you want to watch that.

 

 

Emby should be more streamlined instead of more cumbersome... and of late certainly within the web browser client, that's what's happened.

Additional -   I went through a load of the music track that emby refuses to accept are played... So I went through and played about 20 of them.

 

Guess what... emby still refuses to accept that these are played... it happily marks them as being played but continues to insist that these are 'New' items that are unplayed.

we don't do played statuses for music, sorry. we do play counts, but there is no such thing as unplayed list for music

havent noticed anything unusual in this regard myself...

 

have the file/date attributes changed for these files....worth checking..

if i edit metadata, i have found emby see this as eligible for latest status.
