@Cheesegeezer Believe the issue is more about the user has never authenticated as applying those same setting to an authenticated user shows up.

Replicated issue with "TEST User"

I think with the core side, you need to log in with that user before it will show.

I see hidden USERS that have authenticated.  Just not authenticated users.

i was gonna start there but then rewrote VantagePoint, had maintenance to do with MediaToolbox and wrote subkiller (also close to release, just need to add SDH option) 

this would be perfect for you as can all be done in JavaScript with no C# other than the Plugin basics. 

we can team up if you want and knock this out quick if you want.

The "Copy from" for creating a "New User" is awesome. I've used it.

 

New problem today - due to some system issues, my DB got corrupted. The repair methods didn't work, so I re-added the libraries, and re-scanned.

Guess what??? NONE of the users (not even the admin user) could see the new libraries. The solution for the admin user was to toggle the "access all" and it solved it.... However, EVERY SINGLE USER has access to NONE of the libraries. I also recently added the Trailers plugin, and overall, I would like to update all the users at once... so a COPY PROFILE SETTINGS (allowing me to maybe skip usernames, passwords, and images... lol).... would be PERFECT!

But... I cannot do this.

I also do not save my users passwords, so deleting them and re-adding them is a bit of a bad approach. Not to mention... wouldn't I lose all of their watch history and everything? Yuck all around yuck.

So while there are some things that "I could have done better" there appears to be some things Emby could have done better - but allowing me to copy selected or all settings from one user to another WOULD BE AMAZING.

@ebr@Lukenot sure if you want a new entry, but I recently upgraded my server and recreated my users, when I use the copy settings option, it does not copy 100% of the settings, for example: Display, Home Screen, Playback settings are not copied.

Hi, the upcoming 4.9 server release has added support for quite a few more settings to be included in this.

Hi, those are separate per device and are not stored on the server.

This is a great feature, but I noticed that the default screen view for a given library is not copied unto the new user.

I have a number of users and tend to keep the home screen fresh by switching around elements every now and then, but I noticed there isn't a way to copy the display/settings from one existing user to another existing user. Is that correct? It would be tiresome to have to walk through each user and modify their settings every time a general setting is changed or the display settings are modified.

I'm referring to the functionality to copy the settings (either, both, doesn't matter) from user A to user B.
When creating a new user we can base that off of an existing user, but not when managing users that already exist.

Ah, okay, I get it now. No, that is currently not feasible, that's correct.
