Is there a way to transcode audio only (ac3 to aac) and just direct copy the video (If the bitrate selected is equal or greater then the video bitrate) into a different container (eg mkv to mp4) instead of webm? it would save alot of cpu when using browsers (firefox or chrome). At the moment it is transcoding video from h264 to vpx which is causing a bottleneck.

No, the browsers don't always handle fragmented mp4 very well. the best answer is we need to finish our mpeg dash implementation, which is getting there but is not quite ready yet.
