Keyboard / remote loses focus in the following circumstance:

I have three movies in my "Continue Watching" panel.

  • Navigate to any of them and start playback, and then press stop.
  • Keyboard / remote still works; now exit back to the home screen
  • The movie that you entered will still be selected momentarily - until...
  • The "Continue Watching" panel refreshes (to update the position of the movie just played) causing the green border to disappear and keyboard / remote stop working
  • Clicking on a library header with a mouse will re-active keyboard / remote navigation.

2.1.8 adds external player support. It's very primitive and doesn't have all the rules that the old app has, it's just simply external player for video. We can add rules like 3d only on an as-needed basis, so let me know what you guys need. Thanks.

Thank you. I was going to ask about this, having ran the old app again recently. Also, because of the TMT 5 issue in Emby for WMC issue recently.

This scenario should be fixed now.

Under display settings there's a new Display Mode setting. Once you see it I think you'll be able to guess where the app is going to be headed over time.

For now it will control some of the smaller things, like for instance, whether scrollbars are visible (desktop mode only), whether the in-app on-screen keyboard is used (tv mode only), etc.

I've updated external player playback to assume the video was watched. I'd like to eventually do a post-play screen like the web client where you can indicate where you stopped. But for now it will just assume watched.

When EMC is configured to use MPC-HC as an external player, it communicates with MPC-HC via its web interface. This allows full resume capability and proper watched/unwatched flagging.

This is generic external player support. If there is a community member who would like to build a plugin for an mpc-hc specific player, that would be fantastic. all you need is a little javascript ability.

I've added a screensaver setting under General settings.

@@Luke I'm absolutely loving what you and your team have done with the new Theater client. It's coming along beautifully. I've just switched over to the new client from the previous one.

One thing I noticed, was that the chapter next/prev buttons don't work. In the previous client, they'd either move to the next chapter if it existed, or a standard I want to say 10min chunk. Will that be coming back in the new Theater client?

Try the left / right navigation buttons on your remote.

Try it again. The chapter remote buttons should be fixed now.

I've made some updates to desktop mode. The screen won't jump around when you click on something, and the focus zoom changes to a hover zoom.

I extended this a little bit more to be like the Apple TV parallax effect.  Let me know what you think. You have to enable desktop mode.

Just gave it a go. You're awesome. I know it was a really minor thing to ask about, and thank you very much for adding it in.

Took a while to discover this. You actually have to move the mouse around over the thumbnail instead of just moving from thumbnail to thumbnail. While I personally prefer the simple zoom affect it has, some people may like the extra animation.

Thanks. The question will be once there are productivity features such as buttons inside the poster, will see still be able to have that. Probably not, although it's fine to play with for now.

If you could flip the image and get the controls available in the card overlay on the web client, then I think it would be useful. Either through moving the mouse or a delayed hover.

I've updated external player setup with filters for different video types (files, internet streams, bluray, etc).

Just a heads up if you're running anything older than Windows 10, you might be seeing startup prompts to install the .net framework 4.6. Make sure to do that or the next version of Emby Theater will fail to run. If you prefer to do it from the Microsoft website you can do that here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48130

If you've just recently installed Emby Theater for the first time, then the installer has already taken care of it, so this is just to get existing users upgraded.

Thanks.

Just FYI as well, if you're using windows 7 it won't let you install .NET 4.6 unless you've installed SP1 first.

Good catch, thanks.

I've added a graphical seek menu. It's currently only used when seeking via the mouse. I'll look at how I'm going to use it with a remote control. Also, it only shows up if you have chapter images.
