Dataman100 2 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I’ve been using Emby for the last few months and it’s been awesome. I’m now a lifetime supporter. I’ll be migrating my server from a desktop machine to a dedicated Win7 server machine. Currently my desktop has 3 drives that I have movies stored in, and added to the Emby library, (h:\video, i:\video, j:\video). They are shared to my HTPC via CIFS as, (\\desk\video, \\desk\video2\, \\desk\video3). When I store a new file in any of those directories Emby finds it and collects the Metadata for it. Of course, it’s not always correct and I’ve had to make many updates to the Metadata because either Emby can’t or misidentifies the movie. My new dedicated server will have one large drive and I had planned to put all the files in there. (f:\video shared as \\srvr\video) I’ve read the posting on how to migrate the server software and it seems pretty straightforward. My question is: How do I consolidate all the movie files on the new drive and not have to go back to the Metadata and make all the corrections again? Currently, when I move a file from one drive to another, Emby deletes all the associated Metadata and recreates it, often times incorrectly. Is there a way to tell Emby that I’ve just moved the file and to update the path and not delete everything? I’d really hate to have to go back and make those hundreds of changes all over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave
Luke 42080 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 The best thing to do is enable the option to store metadata in media folders. Then you'll have nfo files that you can move to the new location along with the file
Dataman100 2 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Hi Luke, Ahhh...I read about that option but figure it just stored the data there, not really associated it with each movie file. I'll give it a try. Thanks! Dave
