I updated to the current beta version of server and lost DLNA access from my Sony Bravia KDL-W600B TV.  I tried various troubleshooting options with no success.  As soon as I rolled back to stable version DLNA immediately came back on my tv.

Emby Server 3.0.5607 Beta

This log may be of help to you.

Can you start by describing the problem? Thanks.

Sure.  And sorry for the double post.  I watch Emby using DLNA on my Sony TV almost every day.  After the update, when I go to the menu that lists all DLNA services, I select Emby.  I then go to a generic screen which lists all DLNA known servers across the top and for a short while a little bar moves back and forth in the upper corner.  The DLNA items that are actually on and serving will go from greyed out at the top to white text.

Emby is remaining greyed out.  I've tested other DLNA I have (Subsonic music) and it still works.

I tried rebooting Emby, rebooting computer, double checking the settings, but I could never get Emby on the TV to be functional.

I had that screen up on the TV when I reinstalled the latest stable Emby server.  Right after the install Emby turned white on the TV.

I started watching a movie and it played for a minute and then I believe the server crashed (server upstairs so I didn't see exactly what happened).  I went and check on the server and it had rebooted.  What's stinks is now DLNA is not working again but I see the server auto upgraded to the beta version again due to my settings.

So I am going to role it back and change the settings so it does not get beta until this is no longer an issue.

Does that help?  Was the log I linked helpful at all or would you like more info?  I picked a recent file that was not huge.

Also, even though it will not work on the Sony, it will work on the Xbox One.  I was kind of surprised as the notes indicated this beta was supposed to improve DLNA for Sony Bravia but it seems in my case there may be an issue.

If you have more questions please let me know.

BTW - all networking involved is wired LAN.  Win7 x64 server and you already know the model of TV.

I just put the stable back on and Emby DLNA became available on the TV while I was writing again.  Also, I set the server not to auto reboot on error so I can see the blue screen (or whatever).

It did improve it based on findings from another tester. Unfortunately rolling back to stable and waiting for a fix could end up being a long wait.

Are you saying you can't navigate into the server at all, or that once you go in there is nothing available?

On the TV, Emby stays greyed out as a DLNA option, but that does not stop me from selecting it.  If I do that, it will say to wait while it attempts to connect.

So no, I cannot navigate into the server at all because no data from the server is displayed on the TV.

After just going back to stable, since the last post, the movie has not crashed and seems to be fine.

Umm, I didn't know what to say.  I don't want to use the beta and not watch my TV.  That's all I meant.

Anything helpful for you in the log?

Luke, it is Sunday evening.  You guys work so hard.  You don't have to mess with this now.  I'm in no hurry I just wanted to let you know.  Feel free to escape from the Emby support for a bit.

Here is my log from 5:20PM to now.  10MB.  There are some errors in it that may be of interest.  Although, like I said the movie is playing.  My tv should be 192.168.1.110 or 111 ip address.

Ok, thanks. Please check back here later because I'm going to put up a dev build with some changes and I'd like for you to try it out. Thanks.

Luke,

I installed Dev build 3.0.5608.30475.  I hope that is what you wanted.  It is working with my TV using DLNA.

Excellent, thank you! Question - are images any different than the previous stable release? also can you share your custom 2014 profile? thanks.

I cannot say I see any difference in the images.  I am attaching my xml but the only thing I changed is the User account.

Luke,

When the movie finished, I browsed on the TV to another movie and selected it.  It started then shortly after stopped, screen went black and I could not restart it.  So I went and got the logs.

This movie was being transcoded and the transcode job was still running on the server.

The server log is large and the issue is at the bottom.

This is with the Dev build.

After I exit the non-playing movie, I could still browse Emby on the TV.  FYI.

Thanks,

Luke,

No hurry, but I was wondering if you have any suggestions for me.  Stick with the Dev build until next Beta or did you want me to change something in the DLNA profile?  Again, no hurry, just curious.  Thanks, tobias.

right now i'm not sure because i don't believe it would be any different on the current stable release. if you're saying it is different then if you can get me a transcoding log from each playing the same content that would be helpful. thanks.

The latest beta of Emby Server, 3.1.125, has numerous fixes for Sony Blu ray players from years 2013-2016. The changes will also be in the next stable release of Emby Server. Since I have a device for testing I am now able to test it fully and with the changes I've made everything is now playing perfectly.

It's possible that some of these improvements can be applied to older players or sony bravia tv's, but I do not have those devices available to test with, so for that I'll need to rely on community help. Enjoy.
