vfast 5 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Hi I'm new to the forums and recently re-discovered MB in the form of MB3. I am currently running a dedicated media server and WMC with MBC. I also have a XBox360 performing as an extender. So far I'm liking the server based version of MB3. However I run Chocolate theme and notice that on both devices that I have a blue border around the main screen of Media Browser. This tends to look a little odd and I was wondering if there's any easy way to get rid of it? I tried to do some searching but didn't seem to find this posted before. Apologies if it is. Thanks Glen.
CBers 7450 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) You may need to amend the overscan padding options in the MBCommonXml.config file.It is stored in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Classic\Configurations.See here for more information. Solution ebr 16169 Posted November 17, 2013 Solution Posted November 17, 2013 CBers may be right, but before adjusting that setting, try changing the set up in WMC to different types of displays. Try them all and see if any work better. 1
Sammy 790 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 You may need to amend the overscan padding options in the MBCommonXml.config file. It is stored in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Classic\Configurations. See here for more information. I looked at that guide but in the *.config file I don't see the overscan scaling section nor do I see overscan padding. Can I add them in? If so, does it matter where in the *.config file that this is placed?
CBers 7450 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Not in the MBCommonXml.config file ?? Providing everything else is there, then you should be able to add it.
Sammy 790 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I was looking at the ones for each client. I will check out the common one now. I am having an issue loading TMT 5 full screen for 3D Blu-ray iso playback only. The blue borders are there in MB3 as they were in MB2.6 but when loading MPC-HC to watch a video it went full screen so I never bothered adjusting the scan. I hop this works for using TMT 5 launched from MBC.
Sammy 790 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) Well that changed it MBC for sure. In the main page of MBC it is a bit over-scanned but when I go into a sub menu such as "Movies" it is still under-scanned but not as much. This didn't change how TMT WMC plugin looks at all either. I didn't think it would but now MBC looks a little bit better. What does this part do? <OverScanScaling> <X>1</X> <Y>1</Y> <Z>1</Z> </OverScanScaling> Edited November 17, 2013 by Sammy

Try them all and see if any work better. I tried this to no avail and setting it to Flat Panel causes significant over-scan in WMC for Live/Recorded TV playback.

Sammy 790 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) The best solution to this is to change the following registry entry in WMC. Run regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\MCE.PerUserSettings. Change the Margin Saved value to 1 and change all the other margins (top, bottom, left and right) to 0. This not only fixes the blue border seen on MBC but also fixes the issue with the margins of WMC being set in too far which is what makes TMT 5 not fill the screen when loaded as an external player from MB3. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1499950/best-3d-iso-player#post_23961780 Edited November 18, 2013 by Sammy 1
CBers 7450 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 @@Sammy - are you running MBC on a full HD screen?
Sammy 790 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 It is a Panasonic TC-P60VT60, 60" Plasma. WMC is set to "Television" and not to "Flat Panel" to get rid of over scan for Live/Recorded TV in which case the margins are apparently not set correctly in the Win7 registry so not only is MB set to the wrong margins but so are all the WMC controls. This moves the controls, MB and TMT as well to the perimeter of the screen rather than inset by the wrong margin value. After I applied this fix I had to go back to the MBCommonXml.config that I renamed MBCommonXml backup.config and delete "backup" in the file name and replace revised one in the link above to with the original one that comes "stock" in MBC (MB2.6 I think too). 1
Sammy 790 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Thanks to pittsoccer33 for providing this information to me, BTW.
