Radical924 24 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Hey there so I am having some issues with a folder I have for Documentaries that has a content type of unset. Some Documentaries are setup like TV series and others are setup like movies. Anyways my problem is with the ones setup as TV series because it displays a 2nd uneeded Season folder. Eg. (TV Show -->Season 1 --> Season 1 --> example.mp4) I was wondering if there is any way to "fix" that? Below is a picture showing exactly what I mean. It also shows my current folder structure I use for ALL TV series and Documentary Mini-Series.
Luke 42080 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 you set a folder as TV so it assumes what's under that are tv series, and what's that are seasons. try not overriding anything at all. or you might try reclassfying as home videos.
Radical924 24 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) you set a folder as TV so it assumes what's under that are tv series, and what's that are seasons. try not overriding anything at all. or you might try reclassfying as home videos. When I leave the content type as inherit it does the exact same thing. it is like it doesn't recognize I've changed the content type or anything. is there a way for me to delete the data it has received just for documentaries without performing refresh or advanced refresh?? Those options don't seem to change anything... Or is it possible for me to make two folders under where I keep my documentaries one for single documentaries and one for mini-series and mix them together like I sort of have now? Luke 42080 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I'm actually having a hard time picturing what you're asking - and therein lies the problem with the unset content type. The simpler you can keep things, the more predictable everything is going to be. That's why we have the specific types of Movie and TV. Unset is really a throwback for MB2 users because they're accustomed to it. But it's more difficult for us to support when we can't predict the folder structures you're going to throw at it.

For any documentaries that have just one episode I have it setup like a movie with a movie.xml file in a folder with backdrops etc... With the series documentaries I have it setup with the name of the documentary with a folder inside setup as season 01 and inside that I have the episodes - setup like you would for a TV series. I like having it unset so documentaries aren't mixed with movies or TV. I am going to try something and I'll post back if it works. Edited May 9, 2015 by Radical924
Radical924 24 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) Ok so yeah apparently if I have a library that is unset and keep the "Single-Docs" in one folder setup like you would a movie library and "Mini-Series" setup in a 2nd folder like you would a TV library it works well! Below is a picture showing what I mean. Edited May 9, 2015 by Radical924
ebr 16185 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I like having it unset so documentaries aren't mixed with movies or TV. I think you've figured this out but, for the benefit of others and you in the future, that is not the proper way to achieve that goal. If you don't want a particular media folder combined with Movies or TV, you simply un-check it in the preferences area that defines which folders are grouped. It doesn't need to be an unset type.
