bulls 1 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Possibly my music is messed up in naming and tagging or the music scrapper is weird, but after scan the music collection looks like a mess. (I use music bee to help tag/organize and it doesn't look bad, similarly XBMC is pretty well sorted also). But MB3 created some weird collection folders I don't recognize and have no idea how to navigate to get to songs I want... Ok well I thinks it's showing albums (iOS client). The web/dashboard has option to show all songs and that looks fine there otherwise... Maybe it's about changing the way music is sorted/displayed it will help...
xdanx 0 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 please, please, please... create collection folder (view music by folder). Is much easier for as. Thanks in advice
ginjaninja 605 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 please, please, please... create collection folder (view music by folder). Is much easier for as. Thanks in advice if your referring to web dashboard rather than a particular client, have you tried view through the media collection itself, this is a 'view by folder'
xdanx 0 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I mean view music "by folder" like in MB2 with the music plugins. All my music in flac format was arranged in folders and everything was ok in MB2. When I passed MB3, displaying only music albums gave up. This is the reason for the anicipated thanks administrator for further implementation of the folder view in MB3
Luke 42077 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 i don't know what client you're talking about, presumably the web client since that's where you filed the issue, but it does have folder view.
Credo 0 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) it confused me for a bit too, the top "views" seems to be sorted according to your id3 tags, which in most peoples collections are an absolute mess and you end up with random songs all over the place. im pedantic and used to media center doing it aswell so mine are nicely tagged and sorted now. the second line "collection" is a folder view. Now i find that Musicbrainz is a picky little bugger so things like ACDC, is unknown, but AC/DC is what it wants to see to fetch it. Edited November 17, 2013 by Credo
bulls 1 Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 any solution to having a nice music library ? i re-installed MBS/MBT gave up and renamed my videos but the music is super-messy and i dont know how to go about it...
Luke 42077 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 how are we supposed to know what messy means? please start from scratch in terms of reporting an issue due to the age of this thread.
bulls 1 Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) well, lets see, most of my music including the following pictured example have artist in the ID3 tag (and its not beyonce). and somehow they get grouped in a Mediabrower category/"album" called "beyonce" and those files also reside in separate HDD folders (not a beyonce folder) so i dont understand what its doing... and what it wants... Luke 42077 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 the best thing to do is provide as much information as possible. what do your folders look like. what do you see in various screens of the web interface. screenshots are better than descriptions. thanks.
ginjaninja 605 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 'Most' of music having correct tags isnnt good enough for a trouble free life. The ID3 tags Album, Albumartist and Artist tags (at the very least) must be correct. Also if your music is not in \musiccollection\artist\album\tracks structure you will struggle. These to rules of thumb should get the artists and albums to show up properly. get one artist and albums stored/tagged perfectly just to prove that the artist and their albums do show up properly (i suspect they will once your tags/folder structure are correct) other housekeeping can sometimes help... make sure you dont have multiple tag formats in your files, choose 1 and stick to it eg id3v2.3 (mp3tag can tidy them up) use mp3tag to look for spurious extended tags that might be incorrect/confusing mb3 use musicbrainz picard to tidy up album names and tags to match music brainz 100% (if very anal) delete ibn\artists,delete musiccollection\*.xml and rescan library 1
