ebr,

This still seems to be a problem though since installing the Dev version it is much better.

Still getting delays in TV Series.

Info:

Server - Version 3.0.5625.23705

EMC - Version 3.0.273.0

Chocolate

EMC Log attached...

Blackcat - can you find the log that had the problem and tell me exactly which item it was and post the log?

DarkKniyt - once again you are getting a time-out on a simple retrieval from the server.  I still don't know why.

Heula - please try the dev version and also please try testing with Chocolate.

I think what has happened here is the stability improvements for extenders have forced some things to run not in the background that were before so some themes/situations are having problems with that.

Updated Emby Classic to Version 3.0.272.0 and changed from square to Chocolate. All works fast again. Square is also fast again.

273

Just want to throw my hat in the ring here as well  :)

Running Dev 273 with chocolate, getting loooong delays on some TV series as well.

I can reproduce it reliably on 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'

It only contains the last season 20 of the show, and it has no theme.mp3, so that rules out that process.

Log please.

Log attached.

Deleted all existing logs

Started Emby WMC, waited for the Emby is up to date message

Went into TV

Went to Daily Show and selected it

Took about 30 secs or so

Went to Season 20

Played 1st episode for a few seconds

Backed out and exited to Media Center

If I try to use the back key or Green MCE button while its taking its time, I will always get the Program Not Responding popping up

Hope this helps

Thanks.

I'm not sure it is going to make any difference but please update to 274 and try your test with that show again.

Thanks.

Seems to be no difference, still taking around 30 seconds or so to get in, and I checked half a dozen other shows with the same results.

I chose a mixture of shows that are either:

1. Completely finished and complete

2. Ongoing with some completely up to date and others missing past episodes or entire seasons

3. Completely finished missing past content

All reacted the same

Ones with theme.mp3 files play the theme INSTANTLY, then 30 seconds ish later it enters the show.

Some series go in instantly as is the expected behavior.

Occasionally it will just crash back to Media Center on trying to enter a show

VERY inconsistent unfortunately.

Let me know if you want me to do any specific testing, dummy up a series folder etc etc

Cheers

Okay, try disabling the special TV view in Chocolate settings...

pgriffith

Already disabled, hate that view   :)

Edit... Just to be clear, you mean the Use Custom View for Series option yes ?

Yes, that's what I meant.  I wonder if that is a common factor... (having that disabled).

Try 275.

eric... im remoted into my server.. wanted to quick test on 275..

try this on your setup..

goto tv serries (im coming from mb plus if it matters).. then go into a series.. 1st time is super fast.. like maybe not even a sec and im seeing the seasons..

then just hit back immediately..  then dont move.. choose the same series/show and go right back into it.. DELAY... at least here

same kind of thing happens if you change shows but im just trying the simplest steps to repro for you.. im getting logs nows, stand by

3rd rock from the sun..  entered it a total of 3 times.. 1st time was fast.. 2nd and 3rd had a delay

I have 3 machines here all running 273/274 now. 2 are in use machines (lounge & bedroom) the 3rd is my main work/gaming machine, this has the special view still enabled (I keep this with stock settings, no changes at all) and the same delay exists

Off to try 275   :)

Web - I cannot reproduce a delay with your steps (or any others) so I have been working blind trying to figure out what the common ground is.

I have tried it on the largest series I have (ER - 15 seasons) but I still get in in under a second.

Same with 275

Very inconsistent again...

Started at the start of my shows, first 4 went in fine, then 5 & 6 had the delay, next few were fine, then some more with delay.

Went BACK to the start and then 1 & 3 which were fine the first time around now had the delay again.

Web - do you have the server log that matches that last MBC log?  Also, can you reconcile the times between the two machines?  Thx.

I synched my server and client exactly to the second and repeated the above. Got through to American Dad before any delay, the 3 after were fine this time, but several more following those had the delay. A couple played the theme and then just crashed back to Media Center (with the associated dialog box pop up)

Interesting because the log timings appear to be a few minutes apart.  In any case, the time-out does not appear to be related to the server response which is what I was suspecting.

I've tried something as a test in 276.  See what happens.
