johnlo317 4 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 recently installed the new Emby App in my Roku 2XS. A few things I have noticed. It takes a long time when Im going into a certain movie page. Im not sure if its my server. But I'm not having that problem if I was using the web base client or even using Emby Theater. Yesterday, while watching Harry Potter, about 15 mins left of the movie.. the Loading appears. I ended up turning it of, because it took too long. my son needed to go to bed anyway. On the server end - I am on the latest update (unRaid NAS). Again, i dont seem to have a problem if using Web Base Client or even Emby Theater. is it because its not caching?
johnlo317 4 Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 i went back to try to finish the movie last night.. well it didnt want to load. maybe it was trying to... but i couldnt wait any longer. I ended up using the web client to finish the movie. Im guessing the Roku Apps isnt as stable as it can be?!?
farside847 39 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Three roku app is pretty stable. I Use It daily. Is your video transcoding or direct play? Might be worth it to look at the log data too, it's pretty detailed.
johnlo317 4 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Not sure if I want to buy the Roku 3 just to see if it's any better.
speechles 2055 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Its more than better, see here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/17827-what-kind-of-roku/?p=173531 Also, the new 2015 roku2 model is effectively equal to a roku3 in terms of my post above. So you can save some money, see here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20493-roku-revamps-2015-models/?p=199769 Edited May 11, 2015 by speechles 1

johnlo317 4 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) ok. Just thought I share some findings. I did buy the new Roku 2 (2015). and yes it is faster then my old Roku 2 XS. But it was still taking long to viewing throught the menus. Then I realized why. Some of my movies I have organzied are within another folder. example \movies\Harry Potter\Harry Potter movie 1 \movies\Harry Potter\Harry Potter movie 2 \movies\Harry Potter\Harry Potter movie 3 \movies\Star Trek\Star Trek 1 \movies\Star Trek\Star Trek 2 \movies\Star Trek\Star Trek 3 Most of my movies are organzied as follows - and those doesnt take as long as the above example. actuallu move around pretty fast and smooth. \movies\Lone Survivor \movies\Pacific Rim \Movies\Pulp Fiction So I reorganized those collections movies and now it is much faster getting the menu up. I went back to my old Roku 2 XS and I didnt see the waiting time I originally had. I know when I was watching Harry Potter, the movie did freeze up after 2 hours... Not sure if that will happen again. Guess I will find out when I'm watching a movie later..... I will keep the new Roku 2 (2015). Haven't decided if I will keep the old Roku 2 XS or sell it on eBay yet.... Edited May 15, 2015 by johnlo317
