bulls 1 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 im comparing to Airvideo here using MB3 server on win 7 playback on iphone (same on wifi & 3g/4g) --> on server ffpmeg starts and goes to like 30-40% cpu ... continuously. i stop video playback, exit/switch app on iphone .. ffmpeg continues along for about 1 minute or more with airvideo ffmpeg starts with intermittent cpu usage, every other second(as procex shows) gets some cpu usage 5% sometimes 10% ... but not continuous, and when playback stopped then cpu usage stops. same approx video bitrate 768 on airvideo, 650 on mb3
Luke 42077 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 we have an update for our ios app coming soon that will reduce server cpu usage. 1
kreeturez 27 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Experience this also with Safari under iOS; where swapping between videos leaves instances of FFMPEG.exe running for hours. This is with both the most recent release version as well as beta version of the server (3.0.5069.18843). Even after the 'Active Connections' list empties on the dashboard, I regularly see these processes running (I've disabled automatic library chapter extractions, so it's definitely old transcode threads.) Should these processes not expire when the connection is removed from the 'Active Connections' list? No issue when using Firefox on the desktop: these processes are killed as expected. BTW: Mediabrowser is INCREDIBLE! Edited November 18, 2013 by kreeturez
kreeturez 27 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 open issue for safari. will be looked at soon. Sub-20-minute response times are not what I normally expect from open-source project leaders. Luke: MB will go far. Trust me.
