Hi,

I had to re-image my C drive back 2 weeks in time today (I have fortnightly automated images of my SSD to alternate drives).  The C drive is just for the OS/apps, but as it is an SSD, I leave the emby cache stored there.  I lost no shows or movies as they are stored on different disks (and backed up separately).

Unfortunately, My emby server / wmc had to re-install to the latest releases (expected as I am beta) but the worst bit was all the complaints from the family that the shows they were watching the last 2 weeks (5 separate people) think the have not been watched.

Personally I think they should be happy the backup/recovery got all back operational in less than an hour!!!!

So, My question is - what folders should I be backing up (I can automate it nightly) to save and later restore for the 'watched' lists.

I have the emby backup plugin, but this seems to be config related stuff.

Thanks.

Vaise.

The server configuration backup plug-in can do this for you automatically every night.

In the metadata settings you can also sync your watched data inside the nfo files.  So if you're already backing up your movies folders it should also backup your watched data

I've never used that setting, I have the server backup plugin and have never needed to restore a backup, but how does the option to store watched status in the metadata file handle multiple users?

Ya, on second look that may not work for the OP.  I see the below setting, but nothing which would indicate a per user watched status.  I only have one user though, so maybe it is different for multiple users.   I have both the plugin and this and luckily haven't needed either also.

<watched>false</watched>

It doesn't.  You have to choose a user to save.

This is intended for Kodi compatibility, not backup.

OK - So I ticked that bit - I have 5 users.  All watch list stuff is managed separate - and none want to lose it.  The option states this so sounds exactly like what I want.  Have set it to do at 6AM every morning - as no-one is gonna be watching something then.  I must say - this is very cool!   :

All favorites, likes, playcounts, played states, resume points, display prefs, etc. for all users
