Media Folder Image

Hi,

I have a fresh install of Emby and decided to make a media folder of cartoons for my kid. I have my account (admin) and he has his own (limited).

After scan was over I went to metadata manager and set the image for the media folder and sub folders (attachment 1).

My account Is showing the correct image for the media folder but his account is showing the dynamic image (attachment 2). Images of sub folders (cartoons) are shown OK (to what I set in metadata manager). While the dynamic image is OK and nice, I don't think this is the correct behavior, I expect the metadata image to be shown for the second user as well.

Server log attached. He logs on the last lines of the log file (21:25).

Edit %appdata%/MediaBrowser-Server/config/system.xml and change:

<EnableUserSpecificUserViews>true</EnableUserSpecificUserViews>

To:

<EnableUserSpecificUserViews>false</EnableUserSpecificUserViews>

That did the trick, thx!

I am however confused about this option and have couple of questions. Why is this not in GUI? What this option means, for future? Will dynamic images be created if I don't set metadata image? Why is this option not set default to false, since it is clearly not the expected behavior in my use case?

Huh, sorry :)

it will never be in the gui. this is normal when something changes and it's too difficult to upgrade existing installations into it. so its' only for new installs.

Hi Luke, thanks for your input. I had a fresh install, option was True and I had to set it to False myself. As per my first post, default didn't respect metadata image for media folder for second user. My user (me) saw the image from metadata. That seems wrong to me, wouldn't you agree?

Hi, me again :)

I set the <EnableUserSpecificUserViews> back to true, deleted all user views (from db and metadata/ folders) and did some testing.

The root folder had primary image set in metadata editor (first 2 images).

After this "fresh" start of Emby without user views at all, both users ended up seeing dynamic image. Basically, this happens:

2015-05-24 02:26:59.9824 Debug - HttpServer: HTTP GET http://nuc-media:8096/Users/2f00161711964fe386e4b64d35225fcd/Views?
2015-05-24 02:27:00.3086 Debug - App: Running DynamicImageProvider for C:\Users\M\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\metadata\views\0ec787762df573e7dbea3472cdd31989
2015-05-24 02:27:00.3887 Debug - ImageProcessor: Creating image collage and saving to C:\Users...

So, the user view is being created for root folder and DynamicImageProvider is called creating new image set for the user view (last 2 images)

Issue here is that the view is completely ignoring the image I set earlier in metadata editor for this root folder. Shouldn't this image be prioritized instead of creating dynamic ones for the view.
