I am having issue's with the scan of my media library. It takes ages to complete

Scan media library Completed after 2265 minute(s) and 16 seconds (37 hours ..)

Does anybody has an idea what is causing this behavior ? Log file added

Version 3.0.5061.25570

Plugins installed :

CoverArt 4.0.3.5

Genre Cleaner 1.0.0.0

MB Bookshelf 1.5010.29813

MB Photo 1.0.0.0

Podcasts 1.0.0.1

Rotten Tomatoes Reviews 1.0.5058.20904

Trailers 1.0.5063.19267

Trakt 1.9.5047.40477

Also the scan library started again when the job was finished.

I have a schedule for the library at application start-up and every 4 hours.

how big is your library?

Posted

389 Movies

1776 TV episodes incl. Missing and Unaired. 516 Episodes on disk.

Or do you need the total of TB's

something's not right then. a library of that size should take 30-45 mins. how fast is your internet connection?

I have a 100/100Mb connection (Fiber) this should be fast enough  ;)

Strange part is that I see that sometimes the scan runs fast (4-10 minutes). I also checked what the CPU load of the Media Browser service is during the scan, its low 1-2% load.

Just check the status of the scan, it now 2% for the last 30 minutes...

CPU load of service is 4,5%

Network load 300 Kb/s Up / 80 Kb/s Down.   (Is prob. the load from the RDP connection to my server).

I have no anti virus active. Mcafee is installed but disabled.

Will continue tomorrow.

Now time to watch a movie  ;) With a cold beer.

Will try to remove some plugins.

Scan media still at 2% 6 hours later.

Will also restart the service see if this helps.

Now Running only the following plugins

CoverArt

Genre Cleaner

Rotten Tomatoes

Trailers

Trakt

Restart the service.

After 18 minutes the scan was completed.

But then the scan was started once more (no idea what triggered it), and it was stuck on 2% (with no cpu).

Restarting the service once more.

Remove them all, and don't edit posts because we don't get notifications about that.

we perform media analysis on your media and get metadata from the internet. you just have to get through it the first time.

At this moment a scan is running. It went to 98.2 % and then back to 48%

In the logfile I found the following

2013-11-16 08:51:47.3592, Info, App, Scan media library Completed after 1 minute(s) and 1 seconds
2013-11-16 08:51:47.3592, Info, App, Executing Scan media library
2013-11-16 08:51:47.3592, Info, App, Validating media library
2013-11-16 08:51:47.3702, Info, App, Sending web socket message ScheduledTaskEnded
2013-11-16 08:51:47.3702, Info, App, Sending web socket message ScheduledTaskStarted
<Break>
2013-11-16 08:56:11.7851, Info, App, Scan media library Completed after 4 minute(s) and 24 seconds

For now it looks fine. But I will closely monitor it.

Scan is running once more ??

2013-11-16 09:05:07.9805, Info, App, IntervalTrigger fired for task: Scan media library
2013-11-16 09:05:08.2226, Info, App, Executing Scan media library
2013-11-16 09:05:08.2226, Info, App, Validating media library

This seems to be normal since the last Triggered scan was executed at 05:05 (4 hours earlier).

When I add to file to the collection does that also trigger a scan ?.

The problems is now gone, I removed the Trailers plugin. And now the scan under 10 minutes.

Next step is to first to update the server to version 3.0.5070.20258

Let it run for two days and enable the trailers plugin once more.

The issue has been resolved. The problem was that several tasks were overlapping each other. So a trailer refresh was still running when the Media scan was started, causing a very long media scan and during the media scan an other task was started..

Did some rearrange of the tasks and the system is running fine now.
