localhost not showing list of hidden users

I've tried the current stable release and beta and both seem to not show the list of my hidden users, nor allow me to authenticate without a password anymore.

Has this been changed recently?

 

On a related note, today I was on a public computer and accessed my server, and by mistake inserted my password wrong three times. It locked me out and I couldn't even go on my localhost to log in. So I went to do a password reset which seemed to remove the passwords of all my accounts. Is this intended?
