Continious updating loop an external player not working

After installing version 3.0.5584.25858.and clicking on the "settings" button, I see an update is in progress. After it has finished an alert pops up requesting a restart for completion. After restarting, and clicking again on the "Settings" button, I see that it is once again updating. This cycle goes on and on. Canceling does not stop the future updating loops. Also, the external player option is no longer working for me.

Question, where can I go to reinstall the older version just prior to this release? This update is not working for me and I want the old version back.  I did a total uninstall of the older version before I updated to this latest version, so I have nothing to which to revert. Is this older installtion file store locally on my computer?

I think we have an issue of some components of the video player not being fully disposed when closing the application. That's why the update is failing to overwrite files. The easiest thing to do is restart the machine and then install from the website. We'll try to get it resolved soon.

Thanks, for the reply, but I would rather go back to the previous version. How do I do this?

Building from source is the only way as we don't publish a history of downloads. If you can describe your issue we can try to get it resolved.

I don't understand the reaosning behind this policy. Updates, appear to be mandatory and if there happens to be crippling bugs then the user is could be placed in a holding pattern, as I am, without recourse,  until the developers solve the issues. This, to me, is poor policy. Why prevent the end user from enjoying the product when a prior, stable release would at least restore what they previously had? I have donated over $50.00 to this third iteration of MB, not to mention what I have given PhAzE for his help, but had not considered the possibility of being denied this access.

I have posted for help from time to time getting very little help. I think I sit this one out and revert back to JR Media Center for the time being

i wouldn't really call it a policy but rather just haven't setup a place where previous versions can be downloaded. Well we're here to help if you decide you want to post info.
