Maz78 0 Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Hi Folks, Finally took the plunge and installed MB3 last week. Have been happily using MB2 for years without issue and thought I'd upgrade to MB3 and get with the times as I was upgrading one of my HTPC's. Ok, so setup was all good, but I do have a question or 2 and would appreciate some answers/help about MB3. Basic setup is: I have a QNAP NAS running 24/7 (pretty much). All this does is store all my TV/Movies/Music I have a HTPC in the lounge room and another one in my theatre room. I realise MB3 requires a "server" somewhere on the network, but I found that installing the server side app on both PC's basically screws up my metadata and in the config, it shows duplicates of all my TV Shows and Movies. I removed it from the lesser used media room HTPC and it works. However, I don't want to have one HTPC on purely to act as a server (which is really what the NAS is for), but I know the software has to sit somewhere. So to watch a TV show, I've had to have my NAS on and 2 PC's.. (Seems silly, unless that's just me). I've also found that the metadata MB3 is finding is great, however, it's not renaming my files like I was getting previously with MCM and the like. All my metadata is pretty much perfect, Ie: The Big Bang Theory - 8x17 - The Colonization Application Since installing MB3, the next episode lists as: The.Big.Bang.Theory.S08E19.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION Mind you this is purely within the folders, not within MB3. In MB3 the episode name is correct. Will there ever be a dedicated QNAP package for MB3?? That would solve all my problems (I'm guessing!) Also, why does MB3 use the .NFO file in the folders now along with extra subfolders and misc files in the folder structure? I find it very messy compared to MB2.. (Metadata information was updated fine with other scrappers without the need for extra files/folders) Anywho, any insight / assistance would be appreciated. Keep up the good work guys, I was a contributor on MB2 and to the various plug-in makers and intend to again once I sort out my config. Cheers!
ebr 16169 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Two servers should work (although it isn't what I'd recommend) if you just make sure they both aren't set to save metadata to the media folders. One of them can do that if you wish, but not both because they'll both just start fighting one another.
Maz78 0 Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Cheers Ebr. Will try that out. Any idea on the metadata / filename (rename) issue I have???
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 MB3 doesn't rename your files. It never did. There is an autoorganize plugin that you may want to look at for that kind of thing. I'm not a user but I understand it can help with renaming and organizing TV files. 1
