cannot connect to local server

I have server 3.0.5772.0 running on my notebook, and I usually use WMC to enter and play my media.

Today it asked me for a PIN, which I dutifully went and got and then pressed next and had the option of my notebook server or home pc.

I selected my notebook server but as I am in a hotel room, I believe it is trying to connect over the web to the hotel router and then my notebook server...and failing.

Is this correct and if so, why is it not going straight to my local server to handle my local media on my local machine....?

 

 

Edit...restart of the machine seemed to fix it.
