I just installed the plugin, added my tvh server to the tv sources and channels + epg started to populate with data from my server. Does TVH store the genres in multiple languages?
Luke 42077 Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Actually I see the issue. The TVH api sends out the genres as numbers: https://docs.tvheadend.org/documentation/development/json-api/api-description/epg So we're supposed to do a separate query to get the names of the genres. The Emby TVH plugin is apparently creating it's own hard-coded names based on the numbers.
Bims0n 14 Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 (edited) So translation for the different keynumbers in the plugin is required? Or can the ones from public databases (tmdb / tvdb) or emby be used for that? Edited July 25, 2025 by Bims0n

MrIncredible 2 Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 I am trying to figure out a configuration of Emby and my TVHeadend server that will allow DVR recordings to be handled by TVHeadend because my Emby Server is not always available. From what I can see, Emby requests a live HTTP stream to 'record' a channel and Emby controls its own timers to access the TVHeadend server to grab the TV MUX. This is not ideal for my setup. Is there any Emby config and plugin setup that will use a HTSP/DVR Mode to create DVR entries in TVHeadend to control the recording (and save to the TVHeadend server to be later moved to the Emby libraries)?
Luke 42077 Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 Hi, there is not. If this is that you want then I would suggest using tvh to record and just setup a library in Emby pointing to your recordings so that you can play them.

TVHeadend EPG is not the friendliest/easiest of UI to use and the Guide version/option in Emby is perfect for those just wanting to browse and schedule channel recordings. Apparently Kodi uses the TVH DVR function to schedule recordings from their Guide or channel views. Also Jellyfin does use the DVR function in TVH for some scheduling. Pity Emby can't do the same! Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted December 21, 2025 Posted December 21, 2025 What’s your issue with having Emby do the recording?
