fireblade998 0 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Apologies if this is a double post, I'm sure I saw something on this a year or so ago but I can't find anything now. I'm running MBC on three computers, and I only experience this issue on one of them, it just happens to also run the server but I don't think that is the cause. I also run the Square theme on all three but this issues seems to not be related to any particular theme. So what happens is I lose the focus frame around the selection as I browse my collection. If I uninstall MBC and then reinstall the focus frame is visible again, then if I reboot the computer the focus frame is gone again. Viewing my collection if I move right one title then back to the left the focus frame appears. If I then move right two titles the focus frame disappears. I have tried Chocolate and Classic themes and all exhibit the same behaviour. Is there something else I should do when uninstalling MBC to ensure a nice clean install? NOTE: Just performed another test. If after a fresh install of MBC I exit out to WMC and re-enter MBC the focus frame works. If I exit MBC and and WMC, then restart WMC and MBC the focus frame is gone.
ebr 16169 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 This sounds like some sort of weird display issue with WMC. What resolution is your display?
fireblade998 0 Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 1080p, same as the two other TVs all running the same setup/settings/config. I have even tried moving the pc to another screen and the problem is the same. All is good straight after an install and then the computer gets a reboot and bam, gone very weird. I really don't want to rebuild the pc, if I can't fix it I'll probably go down the roku path.
ebr 16169 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 "1080p" could mean a lot of things. What is the actual resolution the video card is set to?
fireblade998 0 Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Just double checked it is set to 1920 x 1080
ebr 16169 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I guess I need to see some pics of what you are seeing...
fireblade998 0 Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Ok, I'll make a short video tomorrow to demonstrate, thanks.
yardameus 221 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Are you still able to navigate, you just can't see the focus frame? Or is the focus being taken off of WMC/Emby by some other program?
buddyweiser 105 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Have you tried decreasing the thumb size? Seems I remember a similar problem I had a year ago or so. If I remember correctly there are user config files stored on the server, that store all the MBC config per user,so if each machine uses a different user it could be why they are not all experiencing the same issue. Sent using my G3
fireblade998 0 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Hi, Thanks for the replies. No the application still has focus, everything works I just can't tell what media is selected as I scroll through. The issue is not just related to the thumbs, I mainly use Square theme, but in Chocolate the bottom menu also loses focus. I have attached a video of the issue, it is poor quality to get under the 10mb restriction but it still shows the problem pretty clearly. So in the Video, I start with a fresh install of MBC, focus frame is visible, then I exit and re-enter MBC, focus frame still visible, then exit MBC and WMC, restart WMC and MBC, focus frame gone....it's pretty bizarre. 04-07-2015_115856(2)_mpeg2video.mpg
ebr 16169 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Okay, that's what I suspected in the first place. You say your video card is set to 1920x1080 but, clearly, that is a 4:3 display. So, something in the system - either the video card or the display or a receiver or something - is interpolating that resolution to one that fits in a 4:3 frame. I'm sure that is the root of the problem. The interpolation, somehow, is killing the display of the focus frame. Try setting your resolution to a true 4:3 one and see if that helps.
fireblade998 0 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 I have no idea why you would think that is a 4:3 display? Maybe because of the video quality I had to use to meet the upload limit, but the video was shot using a HD 1080p Panasonic video camera and the display is a 46in Sharp Aquos 3d LED TV. It is definitely a 16:9 widescreen display as are all my TVs. It used to work fine on this TV, but I can't tell you exactly when it stopped woking correctly. I've been using MBC for years and this has happened probably sometime in the last 6 months or so. As mentioned my other TVs work fine with MBC and if I take this computer to another TV the problem moves with the computer. The TV also reports that it is receiving an 1080p signal. I suspect it is more to do with WMC rather than MBC. I've tried turning WMC off and back on with no affect, is there a way to reinstall just WMC?
ebr 16169 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Okay. The video you shot was re-formatted to 4:3 I guess. This is definitely a display issue of some sort. Try changing the display setup in the WMC setup. If you have it set to Flat Panel, try something else like projector or vice versa.
fireblade998 0 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 OK I tried every option for display type in WMC, no change. I tried all the settings within the TV for setting off wide mode, input type, no change. I also tried turning off some features in the Square theme, still no change. The thing that makes no sense to me is that if I arrow right, then go back left the focus frame reappears. There is something NQR here....obviously... I still suspect it is to do with WMC itself as it only stops working when WMC is restarted.
