Photos media folder ignores pictures if video present

I have a library setup has "photos"..  The media library that is associated with this library has multiple folders of pictures.  Everything displays perfectly, except folders that has both pictures (jpg) and movies from the camera (mov)..  In this case only the MOV entries are displaying, NO pictures... 

 

It does this for ALL clients, MBC, web, android, etc

Nevermind, I just moved the video into it's own folder with the upper folder, then everything displayed correctly

I've got the same exact problem after the latest update. I tried removing libraries, cleaning the MB cache and metadata folders. If I declare a library as Photos, but one of the folders contains at least one video file, the server ignores all hundreds of pictures in that folder, showing that video file only.

 

This used to work correctly in the previous version.

That is correct - the media type is set to "Photos", but if any folder in the library also contains a video file, all the photos in that particular folder are ignored, like there's nothing but videos there.

UPDATE

 

In order to eliminate possible upgrade issues, I did a brand-new Emby install (today's 3.0.5572 release) on a separate environment. The issues still exists: I've created a "Photos" media type library, and pointed it to a folder that contains 10 .jpg images and 1 .mp4 video. Only video gets picked up. If I do the same with an images-only folder - Emby gets all images correctly.

I've always had a Photos library in EMBY that also contain video clips.

 

They show fine in the clients I've checked, although I do have a separate library scan issue with the some of the photos.

Are you sure you have photos and videos in the same _folder_? We're talking about a physical folder on disk, not library. If you have a single library that points to two folders one of which contains only pictures, and the other - only videos - then yes, everything is fine. It's when the videos and pictures are in the same folder you'd get the problem.

 

The pre-Emby version worked fine, though it also had some problems. For example, if I'd create two libraries (one Home Videos and one Photos) and point them to the same location (because videos and photos are dumped into the same location), only videos were picked by both libraries. I've had a workaround for that where I'd point one library to a local path, and the other one - to a network path to the same location. This workaround does not work anymore since Emby introduction.

Yes, I save video clips in the same folders as my photos so that photos and videos of the same event are all together.

This is still a problem, I've tried both stable and beta versions.

I've also tried to set content type to "Photos" as well as "Unset (mixed content)", but the moment one video is found among several hundred pictures, only the video is shown.
This is now the only reason I'm still using Plex.

Same for me. My folders are "typical" for media coming from a smartphone: they contain jpg and mp4 or mov files. Sometimes there is also a sub folder containing same file types.

 

For me, the problem raised up after latest upgrade. My server is running on Ubuntu. I also tried a fresh installation on my windows machine using other media folders but same problem here...

I don't know how to post a screenshot with my mobile, so I will do that tomorrow with my laptop. What is the aspect you want to see on the screenshot? If you are interested in file names, there are following name types in the folder:

Here's a screenshot of a folder I prepared for reproduction of the issue (sorry, it's german :-)):

 

Photos have been displayed correctly in Emby as long as the video file came into play. 

 

Update: Additional note: This test folder is the only library I have configured in my Emby test installation used here...

 

Update 2: Just to be concrete in my issue description :-):

Steps to reproduce:

- Create new library of type "Photo" referring to one folder in file system

- Copy some jpg files into the folder

- Execute library scan in emby

--> Emby shows all photos of the folder

- Add a video file into this folder

- execute library scan in emby again

--> Emby only shows the new video now

I am still having this exact same issue. When I create a mixed content library and add a folder that contains photos and videos, it only shows the videos when I click on Home, choose the mixed content library, and try to view the content that is there. I'm running Emby Server version 3.0.5986.0 on Windows 10.

For photos you need to use a content type of photos or home videos. They are not yet supported in mixed content mode.

 

Edit: Sorry, for the stable server release, it must be content type Photos. The next server release will support Photos within a home videos library.

I'm having the same problem as the OP and chmelev.   I have media folders that are automatically updated with mixed content from my phone (.mov, .jpg and occasionally something else).  The only files that show are video files.  Even folders that contain only photos are displayed as having no content or empty.   I have the library set to Photos, not mixed or anything else.

 

Is there a solution to this problem listed somewhere else?

 

Sorry for the huge screen shot.  That is just a small example of one of the folders.
