moviefan 187 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I know I am supposed to post a log with reporting a problem but I am just curious to see if others are experiencing weird issues since installing today's "emby server" beta update - 3.0.5557.0 Issues I have seen so far: - On my Roku Client I am unable to play any movies. When I select a movie from the MB home screen Roku says "retrieving" for 5-10 seconds than the MB client crashes and I am returned to the Roku home screen. TV series play fine although quite a bit of lag to load compared to normal. - Trying to enter a TV series in my MBC client I twice received the message that Media browser has stopped responding and I will be returned to media center. Normally it asks me if I want to wait if I get these messages but it did not this time. - I received a message in MBC asking me to become a donator. I have been a donator since MB2 and have donated more than $200 to this software and my donator key definitely exists on the sever side. - I went to watch an episode from the third seasons of Vikings in MBC - the third season was displaying the poster for the first season of Master of Sex. I eventually got the right episode to play and its playing now but it really seems like there is both significant lag in this new version as well as strange oddities that I can't explain. Anyone else seeing similar stuff?
moviefan 187 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 It actually seems like 50% of the images showing in MBC are messed up since this new version. It sometimes displays the wrong posters for different shows, sometimes banners for the wrong shows instead of posters, it just seems completely random. And it is not matching what is being displayed in the server which seems to be accurate.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Can only speak about the Roku. My family and guests have been using it all night and haven't had any problems since the upgrade. Only issue is that the user libraries are out of order. I did restart the server a couple of times today though. Edited March 20, 2015 by Koleckai Silvestri
phonk 15 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I'm afraid of seeing all my TV-Channel Logos are gone through this update :-O I manuely added all Icons by the Metadata Manager Web interface. This was a work about 1-2 hours! How do I get my logos back ?
KarterJK 35 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 agreed Version 3.0.5557.0 just seems very, very sluggish... None of my people show, TV guide doesn't refresh (or hasn't yet), Up coming doesn't show, things like that.... Maybe I will wait a week and see if things populate by then. All this new content stuff is fine, but I am more concerned with just making sure the old options still function properly and refining them more. IMO. 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Anyone notice MB server process constantly pegging their cpu in the upper 90% range since the new server? My poor dual core processor. Even long after the scans are over it just constantly stays up there. Tried rebooting a couple times with no help either
Pais 125 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I've noticed that poster views in the web client of media such as movies seem to load much more slowly than before. It's kind of like watching a puzzle come together where the posters load a few at a time over 3-5 seconds. I'm hoping that this is just some kinks that need to be worked out from the switch to ImageMagick.

Tried rebooting a couple times with no help either yes...in general (havent nailed down root cause) but also searches in particular are very taxing..especially when search term grows as you type many letters...mb3 seems to issue a search on every additional letter, and not shut-down old searches when they are no longer valid...or detecting when the search field is undergoing rapid change (lots of typing) and take its foot off the gas..

That should only be the case the first time you bring up any particular view as all the images are being re-created with the new process.
moviefan 187 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) So I opened up MBC on a secondary system and seems like I am having similar issues although different. Updated to the latest MBC beta version. In the above screenshot you can see that Human Universe is selected, although Human Planet poster is showing. In the screenshot below you can see that the web GUI has the right poster for the series: Here is a screenshot of my main HTPC and you can see there are more errors here and different than on the screenshot above: In this shot you can see Girls is selected, but a banner for the show Togetherness is showing. There are two Garfield and Friends showing - the bottom one is really Gilmore Girls. The world at War banner is showing for the show the Gerat Barrier Reef. The Africa banner is showing for the show The Jinx. there are two frozen plants posters showing - the second one for Futurama. And so on.... Everything on the server side looks fine. It's just MBC that seems to be mis-aligning things. Edited March 20, 2015 by moviefan 1
Pais 125 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 The mismatched pictures in MBC happened to me once a long time ago. There's cache you can delete somewhere and then when it regenerated all was well. 1
ebr 16185 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Yeah, this must be hashing collisions of some sort. Delete the imagecache folder under the MBC program data folder and re-start MBC. 1
rabbit1543 106 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I recently expeienced the same problem in mbc which I noticed after an mbc beta upgrade. I had to trash the image cache and when mbc rebuilt the images everything was back to normal. I forget the exact location but it's a hidden folderShould be under %appdata% or %programdata%
blade005 185 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Anyone notice MB server process constantly pegging their cpu in the upper 90% range since the new server? My poor dual core processor. Even long after the scans are over it just constantly stays up there. Tried rebooting a couple times with no help either I have had issue with CPU and Memory being pegged, with an eventual Out of Memory error shutting down MB Server. The issue for me seems to be with Recorded TV files and the Refresh Guide task running ffprobe and ffmpeg analysis (CPU and Memory Intensive) against all of my WTV files, even though they have been in my library for quite some time. The task gets to 81% and just hangs until an Out of Memory error occurs. I have narrowed the issue to the Refresh Guide task, because I have the same WTV files set up with their own Collection entry and if I remove the ServerWMC plugin (i.e. Live TV) and re-scan the library I have no CPU or Memory issues and my Collection library with WTV files are scanned and updated without issue. If I add the ServerWMC plugin back, which triggers the Refresh Guide task, then I am back to the same CPU and Memory issue and eventual Out of Memory error. Edited March 20, 2015 by blade005 1
moviefan 187 Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the suggestions guys. Deleting the image cache did seem to fix the mismatching image issues on both systems. Stlll getting the occasionally media browser has stopped working and will be returned to media center warnings more frequently than I would like. Again, I never got this message before. It would always say Media browser was not responding quickly enough and give me an option to wait or to close the program. Haven't tried Roku yet to see if it's any better. Will report back when I get a chance to test some more. Edited March 21, 2015 by moviefan
FrostByte 5392 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I can get my cpu to jump just by adding a song to my large playlist, stays that way for a long time before it finally goes back down.

CBers 7451 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) I can get my cpu to jump just by adding a song to my large playlist, stays that way for a long time before it finally goes back down.Just checked my CPU usage during a library scan and it peaked a couple of times around 52%, but it averaged around 25%. Once the scan stopped CPU was 0%. Memory usage was around 239Mb currently. My server runs on an old Dell XPS 420 quad core with 8Gb ram and using Drive Bender disk pooling. .
