The stable branch is up to date and fine. It's just the beta channel that is a little behind, thanks.

Any update on this?

Hello all, I using a version of Debian 8.0 called Turnkey Linux. I am currently stuck at Debian DEV Version 3.1.6138.13888 anything past this will not install.

EX.

root@@MediaServer ~# echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/emby/Debian_8.0/ /' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/emby-server-dev.list
root@@MediaServer ~# apt-get update
E: Malformed line 3 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/emby-server.list (absolute dist)
E: The list of sources could not be read

Then tried thisr
root@@MediaServer ~# apt-get -f install
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Malformed line 3 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/emby-server.list (absolute dist)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Anyone got any ideas? I have tried using all the .deb packages past the above they all fail to start the server after install.
Thanks!

hi @@civilmann, what you'll want to do is grab the beta branch. For the time being we haven't been posting dev releases as we are spending too much time on release management. We are working on a new build system, and once we have the right automation in place, then the dev builds may return. Thanks !

Thanks Luke. I resolved it after poking around the net. I had some bad lines all in my sources lists. Just took all entries out of the dev and beta list and found the third mistake in the main sources list that was an extra apt-get update directly after one of the sources! It's a wonder anything was installing correctly... live and learn. Beta 3.2.9.3 locked and loaded. Still does not get my old LG BD670 seeeing DLNA but you can't have everything. That belongs in another topic sill not resolved :-(

Good morning.

Im new to Emby. I installed the Server a few days ago on my Debian Server (Testing Debian)

I added the source http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/emby/Debian_Next/ for install and do a install emby-server

All works fine i have version 3.2.10 installed.

Today after a apt-get upgrade the webif of Emby says i have a beta version installed 3.2.11.0 beta and a new version is available 3.2.11.1

I never installed a beta version.

aptitude show emby-server-beta
Paket: emby-server-beta
Version: 3.2.11.1~beta-112.4
Neu: ja
Zustand: nicht installiert

aptitude show emby-server
Paket: emby-server
Version: 3.2.11-27.4
Neu: ja
Zustand: Installiert

Edit: The Emby Theater under Windows10 now cannot login. Invalid Username or Password.

Emby Android FireTV app, Handy App and Kodi Addon works fine.

Just tried an upgrade myself and I see it installs:

Guessing it might be a packaging problem. I'm on the Debian 8 repo as well.

Quick question:

Has anybody managed to get his system QuickSync enabled?

The Intel docs only provide a way for CentOS. All other results I have found aren't really up-to-date and only have patches for an very old kernel (3.x).

Vaapi is working, but it's terrible with Emby. Fast scenes and camera movements are full of artifacts.

It is still experimental. I am sure the VA API params that we're using can be improved. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

It's hard to run test without the possiblity to modify the params. I know, this is more a expert setting and has nothing to do in the GUI, but is there any way to change them manually in a file?

You can experiment with ffmpeg directly over the command line. Create some encodings, tweak the params, and see what works best. Let us know what you come up with !

Done, without success. But my knowledge about the params is very low. This artifacts are driving me nuts... I'm already searching for a small GTX 750/950/1050 to give NVENC a try.

Solved :)

To everyone, who have artifacts as fu** with VAAPI and is using a Intel GPU:

It's caused by the 1.7.x drivers. The experimental repo has a 1.8.1 version available and with this one.... -> no artifacts at all. Works great so far.

HowTo for "dummies":

- deb http://deb.debian.org/debian experimental main

- apt-get update

- apt-get -t experimental install i965-va-driver

Edit:

This should work for Ubuntu aswell

Hi

Is there anybody else having problems to update his debian to 3.2.16.0 ?

Web Ui says :

Version 3.2.15.0

Eine neue Version des Emby Servers ist verfügbar!

Version 3.2.16.0 ist jetzt bereit zum download.

but a apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade /dist-upgrade does not load nor install  an update to 3.2.16.0 .
