Web Interface plays HD Material as SD

Hi folks,

I do have a lot oft m4v files which have the format of 960x720.

When I play these files via Firefox they are marked as SD content and the bitrate is limited to 4mbs/s - which not really correct.

I recognized this only in the current stable version of MBS and I am very sure that this issue was not present in the prior versions.

Can anyone comment on this?

well the lowest thing for HD is usually considered to be 1280x720, so that might be it?

not sure where to draw the line really :) maybe a dev could chime in on this.

We determine quality based on the width not height (because the height is variable depending on aspect ratio).  So that width will translate as SD.

Well but it actually isn't. It sold by the fruit company as HD. I

In my memory DVD content has 720 x 576 lines - so in my calculations anything that has widths of more than 720 should be treated as HD because it has higher quality than a DVD.

Doesn't that make some sort if sense?

That doesn't take aspect ratio into account, widescreen 480p (DVD resolution) is 853.33×480

Yeah correct but you will not find SD material with a resolution height of 720 pixels  so at least that should make it an HD file.
