OT: Nvidia driver update 3D Vision gone

Hi,

Thought I might get a few more views if I posted this to a new thread and I am sure that someone in the world of HTPCs has experienced the same thing.

After an almost week long battle I finally managed to get Windows 8.1 running without all the crashes I was experiencing before. I have setup MBC and TMT 5 for BD 3D ISO playback.

I grabbed the newest driver set for the NVidia GeForce 540 3D card that I am running but although the driver package comes with 3D Vision there is nothing available after installation to setup 3D Vision and the 3D display settings are not available. After a bit of reading I discovered that 3D Vision will be disabled if it does not detect an NVidia 3D emitter plugged into the system.

I know that the original driver package worked without one and my Asrock Vision 3D HTPC never came with one. Has anyone one here managed to get past this and get drivers other than the OEM ones to function correctly without the emitter?

On the other side, I do not have an issue using the older driver package, but after I clean install it, through the NVidia installation package, and reboot the system and then log in again, the screen goes black for a couple of seconds, the resolution and refresh rate appear in the corner of the TV, and then the display comes back up. When I check in Device Manager the newer drivers have reinstalled and 3D Vision is gone again.

If anyone has any suggestions on either option it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

EDIT: I think I figured out getting the older driver set working and sticking, emphasize hope :) Any advice on getting newer drivers working and having 3D Vision working as well would be greatly appreciated
