Smaky 131 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 While testing betas and dev version one usally gets many logs created. It would be great if there would be a button on the logs pane (Under help) that would allow to dellete all and/or individual logs - by placing a delete button next to the name or so. This would allow to delete the logs w/o having to navigate to the folder they reside. A truncate option/switch log option would be interesting too. 1
spootdev 56 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 A scheduled task that would delete x days of logs would be "perfect" for me.

ebr 16185 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Logs are already cleared out on a periodic basis.

ebr 16185 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I'm pretty sure the clear log files task runs on a schedule, not just at start up. Also, we already generate a separate log file when something causes a crash. However, we usually need more context than that to diagnose an issue. Don't try and paste logs into these posts. Use the techniques described in How to Report a Problem to attach or use an alternate service.

ebr 16185 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Any chance we can CC fatal errors to another log file? We already do this. An "unandled" log will be created for any fatal error. However, it is rarely enough to diagnose a new issue.
Smaky 131 Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 If there is a scheduled task that clears the logs, why do not make it visible in the server dashboard. This way one can run it on demand or change the schedule. If logs are delteted automatically I am not seeing this happening... I´m on dev builds and I regularly go to the server´s log folder to delete them manually (specially before trying to submit a log on a post). C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\config <LogFileRetentionDays>3</LogFileRetentionDays>
Smaky 131 Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Interesting... I will change that to 1 day just to double check they are disposed.
Smaky 131 Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 I reduced the cycle using the non-documented parameter. I still believe it would be better to have the option to manually delete each log using the interface (via a delete button next to the icon to display it), Additionally, if recycling of logs is set with a scheduled task it would be great to have it listed in the scheduled tasks list.
