Subtitles broken in server version 3.0.5518.7 ?

After upgrading to server version 3.0.5518.7 my Media Browser Theater started crashing just as I started playing certain movies or TV show episodes. I'm getting this error message:

Unhandled Exception: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

And when I click "OK" it is followed by:

MediaBrowser.UI has stopped working

And MBT will just crash.

 

I found that this happens consistently with movies and TV shows that has subtitles (an .srt file), this happens *every time* I try to play a file that has a subtitle file, and never with files that has no subtitles.

 

This started with server version 3.0.5518.7, I could play subtitles just fine with earlier versions of the server.

 

In case it matters, I am running the server as a "service" and the user running the service only has read access to the share where my media files are stored. This is intentional and for a reason and I do not wish to change that, but this has worked just fine until the current server version. I'm using MCM to manage metadata.
