New user having issues!

Hi

I have an apple tv2, and have Kodi (XBMC?) installed. I have fast broadband connected through Ethernet to the router.

When ever i try and play anything all I get is a message Unable to play media file, check the logs. Its driving me nuts.

I know nothing about any of this, and wondered if i need to do something, or maybe I am missing something obvious?

Any advice would be great.
