CBers 7450 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Just tried to play a video and got the following error: Any idea what this could be please ??
DaN 49 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I think it's kind of server error, does it happen for all videos? Did you try to restart the server? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
chessdragon136 677 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Render Error Type 7 isnt even defined by Samsung in any documentation i can find... Is it repeatable? Same file (upload sample and allow others to test see if its file or server related) Aside from that, i have no idea.
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I can test it on my tv if you upload a sample file
CBers 7450 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) It was a 1080p mp4 video with AAC audio. I'll try and find the equivalent server log and see if there's anything there. Edited February 21, 2015 by CBers
CBers 7450 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 What's the easiest way of creating a sample?
CBers 7450 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 From Googling the error, or subset of the error message, it seems it's a source error, so I have replaced it with another copy. The PLEX forums are very good for finding information
chessdragon136 677 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Source please Finding these error codes is a pain, I have 0-4 & 6 - I did check their forums out but didnt find render error 7
CBers 7450 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) I'll get a sample up somehow. I didn't find type:7, but enough speculation that it was the video file. . Edited February 21, 2015 by CBers

chessdragon136 677 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I wonder if it doesn't like the 10 bit depth - I had an anime that crapped out due to that..
CBers 7450 Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Source please Finding these error codes is a pain, I have 0-4 & 6 - I did check their forums out but didnt find render error 7 Here you go: Download It's 19Mb in size. I've tried this sample via the app and still get the same error, so hopefully everyone else will too. . Edited February 22, 2015 by CBers
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I get the same error here using the sample file. I even tried remuxing it into a mkv and got the same error 1
chessdragon136 677 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 And this file plays via MediaBrowser DLNA?
CBers 7450 Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 And this file plays via MediaBrowser DLNA? DLNA says "The selected file is not currently supported".
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) I also tried using the MB Win8 app and play to and I get the same currently not supported error. If I right click on the file in windows explorer and say "play to" it does work. Edit: that error is from the Samsung tv when using dlna, not the client btw Edited February 22, 2015 by FrostByte
strugglez 8 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I get this with some files I'm trying to play too.
CBers 7450 Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 I get this with some files I'm trying to play too. This is an old thread, but make sure you're on the latest BETA/Stable version of the app.
strugglez 8 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) Hey Yea, I'm on the stable version of the app for both of my Samsung tv's. From what I recall, I have one Samsung D series TV and one Samsung F series TV. The error is persistent on both depending on what I play. The server is also up to date with the stable release. Should I switch to using the beta releases for testing? It trialed using plex last night and they have an option in their client to tell the server to either be Auto, direct play, direct stream or transcode. The files in question play if I set plex to transcode And the files also play directly via DLNA. So I guess it comes down to the transcoder for EMBY or EMBY client not direct playing/direct streaming? It's only the odd few that won't transcode but I will mention, I'm loving the fact that every bit of HEVC content has streamed flawlessly so far. I'll reply with the media content and format when I can as I'm not at my pc atm. Edited October 19, 2015 by strugglez
FrostByte 5392 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) When you say stable do you mean build 593 of the Emby app? That is the current stable build and should be okay. The version number can be seen in the lower left of the splash screen when you first start the app. The developer (cmcg) is also on the stable version of server and does all his testing on that so you should be good there also. Can you try and play your file from USB using the built in Samsung media player? If it errors can you give us the Samsung error code if it's error 7 also or something else. If your file is incompatible with the tv then the Emby app will probably have to be told to transcode your file based on whatever is causing the file not to play (High10, etc). It sounds like it will need to if Plex is transcoding it to play. Either that, or you might have to transcode/reencode it yourself or find another copy. When you say DLNA, do you mean from within the webclient? That could be transcoding your file for you also based on the Samsung DLNA configuration file on the server. It should be creating a transcode log on the server if it is. Also, if you can post a small portion of your file on OneDrive, or somewhere else, then one of us can test it also. If nothing else the mediainfo from your file like shown in the other post. Edited October 20, 2015 by FrostByte
strugglez 8 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Heya FrostByteI am indeed using the stable version on both TV's (V 0.593). I also did indeed mean DLNA from within the server. I use Windows 10 and have managed to cast it to both TV's perfectly, I'll try find my USB stick and try playing them directly through that. As far as I can tell, the media isn't any different from the rest in terms of codecs and containers. It transcodes fine through Plex but doesn't seem to want to with Emby. I don't know how to crop a sample of the file without altering it's format etc. unless you could guide me on how to do so (most software I imagine re-encodes).Here's some screen shots of the 2 files in question with mediainfo.
FrostByte 5392 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Could you possibly change the mediainfo to something like html under View and repost? I usually can't see everything using that view. Just by looking at that view though I can see that your file on the left is High Level 5. If you look in the back of your user's manual for your F series tv there should be a chart of supported containers and codecs, etc. Under that chart there is also a few paragraphs of more information of supported files. My F series tv only supports files up to High Level 4.1 and I'm pretty sure all F series devices are the same. Sometimes you can fool the tv by just changing the header info within your file to level 4.1 Not sure if the Emby app is checking for the Level, or even if it's checking for High, High10, etc. It might not be, so it may be streaming the file and when the tv sees it then it can't play. The app does for sure check things like bitrate, audio channels, codecs, etc that are in the chart With that second file, I'm not 100% but it's possible that it isn't playing because of the number of reference frames? Not sure though. Level 4.1 only supports 4 ref frames at that resolution. Playing the files from USB using Samsung's built in media app should tell you if they can't be played without transcoding. If they don't work using that, then they have to be transcoded on the fly or reencoded by you If you haven't already then maybe have a look at the "TV Settings" in the Emby app. There is one for AAC and another for transcoding with D series devices which may help you with the one TV and are off by default I think https://forum.handbrake.fr/download/file.php?id=49&sid=f2cee6fbc8a278b439d627190bd4bd9f&mode=view Edited October 20, 2015 by FrostByte

I understand that my TV probably isn't capable of direct playing or streaming those files, but I was wondering more or less why they still didn't play because everything else that isn't directly played or streamed, is transcoded without a problem. It's just those 2 that seem to be the problem. They do however transcode with plex. So yea, is it the files I should just delete or re-encode, or is it an actual Emby problem trandcoding too?
