two wire 2 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I am switching from the Windows server version to the Linux version. I don't want to again scrape for the metadata when I already have it for my Windows version. Can someone tell me what folders/files, etc, I should copy to my linux machine in order to duplicate what I now have using the Windows version of the server.
Beardyname 198 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 are you storing your metadata alongside your media, or in a different path (there was an option during install otherwise check the media-data thing on the web-ui). depending on which it is backup that one
Luke 42077 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 if it is the latter, they will not be easily migrated because they are tied to the media path. the media path is surely going to change so there's really no way to migrate it.
two wire 2 Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) I am storing the metadata in the individual media folders. However, when I exarmine the ProgramData-Server folder, there is a huge amount of metadata in the folder, found in sub-folders; such as "Cache", "Data", "Imagesbyname," etc. I assume this additional info is not destined to be stored in the media folders, but to supplement it. I have copied several of these folders over to my new installation with some success. The issue I would like most to solve Is the "Cast" heading is not showing up for the individual movies. I was hoping all I needed was to edit a path somewhere to link these togeather. I have all that I need in the Windows server installation, and I'm just trying to save literally days of scraping and tons of bandwidth. I also have months of editing (evening hrs.) invested in the old metadata. Thanks for the replys EDIT: Never mind, I found a way to do this Edited February 19, 2015 by two wire
AcidRaZor 0 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) EDIT: Never mind, I found a way to do this Care to share how you did it to help others who might want to do the same thing? What's the point of the internet if you're going to be selfish with your solution when you so freely asked for a solution to your problem and expecting others to share. I'm a bit disappointed.
