xbox one play to

Hi There,

I'm trying "Play To" my Xbox from the Windows 8.1 app and with some MKV files, I see it start to play, but then freezes and stops.

Just wondering if there is something I need to do in setup or on the xbox to play this type of file.

Thanks,

Jason

Need log files to see what's wrong.

If you re currently using the latest beta version of the server, people have been experiencing choppy playback through DLNA to Xbox one.

I would consider using the last stable release of the server because there is no issues transcoding media.

that doesn't help solve problems. if you normally use beta, then stay on beta and help find the problem

I have read all of my logs from transcoding in both the stable and beta release.

I do apologize, but they are the exact same. With exception of frame encoding speeds.

For what i'ts worth I got here by searching for "choppy" because DLNA on the Xbox One stopped working (sending to Video or appearing in Media Player) so I went to the fallback of playing the movie/video in the Xbox One browser.  It was choppy enough to be unwatchable.  Went back to the stable release and the same videos that wouldn't play to Video now worked perfectly.

Tomorrow evening I can do a test by upgrading to the beta and getting some logs.  Would doing the following be enough?

1. Selecting the Xbox One DLNA as the player

2. Attempting to play a movie (would you like me to try different formats?)

3. Usually it will switch over to the video app, give me a black screen, then go to an error message that I should choose another video

4. Select My Browser as the player

5. Play a movie in the Xbox One browser (which always seems to have a black border, whether it's maximized or not).   Again, should I try different formats?

Anything else I could test?

comparison logs of beta vs stable would be great, including the transcodoing logs as well. thanks.

OK, when I get home from work I'll run the tests I mentioned (I'll try an mkv and an mp4) on the stable I have installed now then I'll do the same after I upgrade to the beta.

If I understand correctly all the relevant logs (I already turned on logging and DLNA logging) should be here: %appdata%\MediaBrowser-Server\logs

Here's the first test I did.

MediaBrowser Version 3.0.5490.2

Tried to watch 2 movies first using DLNA to Xbox video and then using the Xbox One browser.  DLNA didn't work, the browser did.

My Xbox One is version 6.2.12130.0 (xb_rel_1502.150209-1738) fre

let's just isolate to whatever playback method is running smoothly on stable but is choppy on beta

:-/  That's why I had asked what to test.  I'll do it again...

Hi Guys,

Just getting back to this.  I have attached the logs - when I click on Play-To and select my Xbox One, I get the error "Unable to start your item".

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
