Multiple paths for media folder not recognized

Hello all,

I am trying to determine whether mediabrowser can now replace Plex for me.  I am really hoping so because for some reason Plex is just not appealing to the geek in me these days.

I have paid for one month and I am kicking the tires.  I have done the manual install using the latest version of Mono on 14.04 and I just don't know why I am having this issue:

When I have two locations for a media folder (Movies) which are "/share/media/downloaded/film" and "/share/media/Film" only the former one is honored.  It will just not recognize both locations.  Can someone help me with this please?

Here is what I think is the relevant part of the debug log:

And a log file is pasted at https://paste.ee/p/eWDrn

Any thoughts?  Stumped.

what are the other paths you've added to other libraries? is there any duplication? the log looks normal.

No, this is the only library I have added so far.  I guess the log is normal aside from the fact that it doesn't include 95% of my films.  :(

Ironically I have used every htpc configuration under the sun including mediabrowser way back in the days of v1.  It took me a long time to come around to Plex again once it got much more feature complete.  Now they are more interested in releasing half-baked installs on more and more platforms.

I really want this app to work but this is a tough start for sure.  This is just basic functionality, right?  I have re-added this library multiple times and I just can't get it to honor more than one dir at the same time.

yes this is basic. for the folder that isn't showing up, what are the contents of it? can you show that via screenshot? how are your movies organized?

i tested this and couldn't reproduce. it all seems fine from here. those files aren't marked as hidden by any chance are they?

No, the perms for both paths are the same, 755 and owned by me.

At a total loss here.  Plex scans the directories just fine.

So I added another directory alongside Film with the exact same perms and added just one film to it.  It added just fine.  It's almost as if the LibraryMonitor just chokes at the size of the directory and doesn't want to even start.  It is an 11TB directory btw!!

no, if i had to guess i don't think we're seeing the contents of that folder for whatever reason. just as a test, can you try adding a subfolder, called anything, and stick a couple video files inside? thanks.

That works.  I added /share/media/Film/test and put 3 movies in it and they added just fine.

Oh well.  I never got library scanning to work correctly unfortunately.  I am going back to Plex for now.  Maybe in the future this will run better on Linux for me.

FYI Luke,

I installed the OS X version and it had no issues at all with having the two paths.  There is something up with the linux build for sure.

I have this same issue. One of my TV episode folders isn't being scanned while the other 5 folder are scanned perfectly. Adding the folder that isn't being scanned to a new group with the same content type allows it to be scanned. Permissions are correct.

It's too bad.  It made me abandon ship unfortunately to go back to Plex.  I really hope they get Linux sorted out with Mono.

Decided to give this another shot 3 months later and the same issue is happening.  I just can't have more than one path per media folder.  I have tried this in both Ubuntu and a Virtualbox VM running Fedora Core 21.  I just don't understand how others are not having this issue.  There is nothing unusual about my setup - mhddfs pool on top of regular old linux.

Nobody else seeing this?

are you using sym links?

Also Luke - both of those pooling techniques work just fine with the P word.

we are relying on mono for file system access. now that they have microsoft's backing and commitment to multiple platforms, i am sure support for this kind of thing is going to be added. unfortunately since it's not currently there, it creates a difficult choice for us of waiting vs building our own and potentially destabilizing everything that is currently there.

well that is finally good to know Luke.  I am surprised others aren't encountering this since these are very popular for media hoarders.  I wonder if there is another way to accomplish this.  Maybe I can try pointing emby at the actual disks - not very elegant but might work.  I will give it a shot now.
