I am making the assumption that all series of a tv can play the same files but I don't think that's too bad. Must be better than the current system

There may be some oddities with firmware versions introducing newer features (probably only relevant for F series onwards), and some of the newer models in the D and E series may have more support than the original D and E series models. Taking the approach you are though should work, there may just be a of fringe cases where the app is missing a couple of rarer formats in the compatibility matrix

Yeah its never going to be perfect unless its coded on a per model per firmware basis, and that's never going to happen!

@@chessdragon136, I've added a document for ES8000 in your OneDrive folder.  It has a few extra formats not in @@cragjagged's list.  I've also included music and image formats for future reference.
