Need help setting up htpc for live/dvr tv

Ok, so I'm totally new to all this so please bear with me.

 

I have a Thinkserver i3 TS140 that I've recently set up with a 250 ssd for boot drive and a 2tb WD Black storage drive.

 

I currently just use PLEX for streaming my movie collection but wanted to also view live tv and use the dvr function.

 

I have a Hauppage 2250 card that I haven't installed yet as I'm waiting for help on what software I need to use with it to be able to watch and record.

I use my Hauppage 2250 with NextPVR.

Works fine.

No, if you use NextPVR you will the NextPVR plugin and application.

ok so what does this mediabrowser live tv do? same thing? does nextpvr use wmc or is it a standalone?

NextPVR is a stand alone application. Mediabrowser live TV is only possible with the NextPVR plugin or one of the other live TV options.

 

So to get live TV with mediabrowser you would do this.

1st install and setup NextPVR.

2nd install the NextPVR plugin.

So nextpvr replaced media center??

Yes media browser will need to be installed. Kinda NextPVR is its own type media center.
