Started Mozart in the Jungle yesterday - easy to watch - really surprised I didn't hear about it before the second season.

Yeah, I saw that it did well at the Golden Globes. I'll have to give that a go.

Anyone tried The Magicians? I saw the pilot and quite liked it, sort of like a grown up Harry Potter!

Just watched the pilot it looks good. Will wait and see.

Might try it tonight. Is it actually any good?

I liked it, as did the kids.

The first half is almost exactly Harry Potter - secret doorways, attending magic lessons, different houses and something "special" about the main character. But it seems to expand on that towards the end of the episode.

Did anyone check out Angie Tribeca? I've just watched the first episode so far. Some of the comedy was a bit forced, but there was lots to like.

And how about Second Chance? I quite enjoyed that pilot - but...

I've no idea why the main guy now has super strength.

The Magicians

I feel it had that Charmed vibe a bit (+ HP of course). I'm a huge magic fan at heart, so I'm very hopeful this will turn out to be a great show.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow

Very good pilot episode. The story line is very well established. Straight to the point, just how I like it.

A young doctor's notebook

The story is about a young doctor fresh out of med school working in a secluded Russian hospital. It's surprisingly good and funny in unexpected ways (even if it's gory at times). It's a shame it's only 8 episodes total. I'm only at episode 3, but I highly recommend watching it.

The Expanse

Oh boy, I'm still not a fan. I think the issue is they started too big! It's a bit confusing how every characters relates to the plot. On a positive note, I really enjoy the team in space story, I almost wished they only focused on them for the entire season and then open up the rest of the world in season 2. I will give them that, everything looks top notch visually. Minor detail, I really hate the cop's haircut. :)

Only two episodes in, but I am not getting the general hate for 'Colony' - it isn't amazing, but better than other attempts at this story line.  Kinda reminds me of an alien invasion version of 'The Americans'.

Gotta say - though 'The Expanse' had a couple of good episodes, it is largely annoyingly boring.

So I am going through Seinfeld for the first time and hit season 6 finally.  I now know why Seinfeld was so popular.  Despite being a huge fan of TBBT, I have to say that Seinfeld may be better.  Between coffee in Kramer's pants, Newman "rubbing out" the dog, and Elaine talking to the rabbi with the cable show, I haven't laughed so hard in a really long time.

Wow.  Seinfeld is one of the best all-time comedy series ever IMO.  But, I guess I'm in no place to judge since I am just now starting to watch "The Office".

I have a cool story re: Seinfeld.  I was in NYC for a weekend with a friend in 1987 and we went to the Comedy Cellar to watch some stand-up.  In the middle of the normal line-up the MC came on and said they had a special walk-on of a comic from town... yep, Jerry Seinfeld.  My friend and I both thought it was the funniest stand-up routine we had seen in a very long time.  Neither one of us had ever heard of him.  Many of the bits he did were the foundation for what ended up being Season 1.

That is amazing. To be able to say you had seen a Seinfeld stand-up routine before he became famous is really cool.

I assume the US Office. I really liked it. I think Steve Carrel's character Michael Scott is brilliant. I know there's a lot of forced awkward humor especially in the early seasons, but it is some really good stuff overall. Not sure it would ever be considered as a contender to Seinfeld, but in my opinion one of the best comedies on tv after Seinfeld.

Also wow, really cool Seinfeld story there.

Best comedy series after Seinfeld is probably Curb Your Enthusiasm :)

Best comedy series after Seinfeld is probably The Larry David Show :)

Curb your enthusiasm?

BTW I heard he is hosting SNL soon...that should be good.

And that he has enough material for another season or movie...I forget which.

This looks like it might be interesting: Outsiders

Looks interesting, I'll add this to my list.

What little I have seen of the Office didn't seem too interesting. I am more into what I would call cerebral comedy (comedy based less on weird situations and more on (for lack of a better word) intelligent dialog and decisions that the average person would need to make, a. la. Seinfeld and TBBT.

Would the Office fall into that category or is it mostly just outrageous situational comedy that would probably never happen in real life? I am trying to decide if it is worth investing any time in watching it.

I hear what you're saying and it's hard to say. There are a lot of goofy characters but it is still smart...smarter than like all the crap CBS comedies (like two broke girls...really America...)

But I guess it's not for everyone. Steve Carrel's Michael Scott is one great comedic performance though. I feel like everyone has had a boss like that at one point in their lives.

Anyone watching COLONY?

Yes I saw the first episode. I thought, like many sci fi shows that are relatively unknown, cool concept...but...not entirely sold on it.

I'll probably watch the second episode and make a decision if I should keep watching.

Just watched the first episode and will watch the next, but not sure I'll stick with it if it's just another "humans against the aliens" story.

Too many of those types of shows lately.

I watched the first episode of Lucifer on the weekend.  It was fun.  Not sure about longevity or depth but I'll definitely be watching the next episode.

The wife and I both liked this. Definitely want to wait for a few more episodes before saying yes or no.
