AdrianW 1058 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I started watching Rectify about three days ago - and I've watched seven episodes so far. Damn, this show is good. Definitely has a "just one more episode" effect.
xnappo 1611 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) Yeah - we started 'Rectify' too and it is definitely good and a change of pace! Also really enjoying 'The Bridge' Season 3 - I was worried how it would go, but they really found a way to make it work. Edited January 1, 2016 by xnappo

Definitely has a "just one more episode" effect. I discovered this last year and is one of my favorites but it is definitely "different".
fantaxp7 191 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I finished Making a Murderer this weekend, I wanted to re-recommend it here. It was an amazing docu-series. Real cliff hangers episode to episode. 1
Latchmor 584 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I finished Making a Murderer this weekend, I wanted to re-recommend it here. It was an amazing docu-series. Real cliff hangers episode to episode. Yes I agree. I was hooked and watched it all in a couple days! I'm on to the The Staircase now. I've gone all courtroomy over the hols! 1

swhitmore 781 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Anyone watching "The Shannara Chronicles"? I'll give it a go tonight.
mediacowboy 438 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Only the first 4 episode are out, but was just wondering other thoughts
Angelblue05 4132 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) Only the first 4 episode are out, but was just wondering other thoughts I am genuinely excited to see elves get screen time. The story line is well established and I'm looking forward to watching more episodes. Am I the only one that finds The Expanse boring? I liked the first two episodes, but the story seems to move very slowly? Personally, I would not pitch this show as Game of Thrones in space (they might have set the bar too high saying that). Anyway, we'll see... Edited January 7, 2016 by Angelblue05 1
chef 3810 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Anyone watching "The Shannara Chronicles"? I read all the books by Terry Brooke's so it should be interesting to see how it all relates. Plus, interesting note, in a scene in The Big Short, the sword of Shannara is a book that is being read by Christian bales charater...

Plus, interesting note, in a scene in The Big Short, the sword of Shannara is a book that is being read by Christian bales charater... I haven't read the books. Ilthe trailer popped up on my Facebook and it looked really good. So here I am. Is there any order to read the books in and I will see about getting them.
chef 3810 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The sword, then the elf stones are the first two.
CBers 7450 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Am I the only one that finds The Expanse boring? I liked the first two episodes, but the story seems to move very slowly? Same here. Watched first 2 episodes and gave up.
chef 3810 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) Just wondering why MTV has to put a crappy, soapy, teenie-bopper twist on everything? I mean the Shannara Chronicles would be an amazing show if it wasn't laced with MTV. In a way it kind of wrecks it for me, seeing Alanon. I always pictured him as more of a long haired, greasy, scard Druid. Not Deathlock from the Arrow. Oh well, the makeup is great in the show, and they are following the story line, so I will continue to watch it. Edited January 7, 2016 by chef
swhitmore 781 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Just wondering why MTV has to put a crappy, soapy, teenie-bopper twist on everything? Hopefully they realise and fix it. The 100 had the same problem, but they stopped that after the first few episodes.
xnappo 1611 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) We liked Shanara Chronicles a lot - mostly because both my 12 year old boy and 7 year old daughter will watch it with us As to that 'teenage look' of MTV (and The CW) - I try to just pretend it is life-like Anime. Those people look about as much like people as Anime As to The Expanse - don't give up at Episode 3!! Episode 4 is *really good*. Haven't seen 5 yet. Interesting that 'The 100' gets better - we stopped at like 2.3. May take another look. Edited January 7, 2016 by xnappo

chef 3810 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) The first four episodes of the Chronicles of Shannara is definitely based I. The second book of the series. I really hope that they do some kind of flash backs to the first book story line because that would really make this show great. The first book follows Wills father Shea and his brother Flick (who just happens to be the uncle in the tv series) as they follow Alannon to find a magical sword. Then they fight the great war they talk about in the tv series. Edited January 8, 2016 by chef

xnappo 1611 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Started Mozart in the Jungle yesterday - easy to watch - really surprised I didn't hear about it before the second season.
