Macburp 112 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 FARGO FTW!!! This is the best show... loved the first season and the second is even better. Check it out if you like weird, which I love. Not for the kiddies obviously. I wish they would make a series out of the Big Lebowski. Coen Bros, please. +1, although I think this season suffers in comparison with Season 1, purely because it lacks Season 1's huge character that is Lorne Malvo. Still excellent though
Macburp 112 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I thought the mini-series of Childhood's End (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4146128/?ref_=nv_sr_1) was excellent. I'd read the book in my tenage years (a very long time ago) and was prepared to be disappointed. But this series was rather good!

Macburp 112 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Any fans of the Leftovers? I felt it jumped the shark this season, sadly. The 'International Assassin' episode was bizarre. The acting was excellent though, even though Christopher Eccleston was criminally underused, I'm glad its got a third season and will get a proper ending. Edited December 19, 2015 by Macburp
xnappo 1611 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Housecleaning time. Got some shows I never started, deciding if I should watch them or delete them: - Hostages - Rectify - Bate's Motel - Revenge - Salem - Broadchurch - Manhattan
AdrianW 1058 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Definitely watch Broadchurch. Season 1 is excellent, season 2 is OK. 1
ebr 16169 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Definitely watch Broadchurch. Season 1 is excellent, season 2 is OK. Yeah - don't miss Broadchurch - especially Season 1. I also like Rectify a lot but it is quite different. Manhattan was fairly enjoyable in season 1 (for network tv ). I haven't started season 2 yet. 1
TolkienBard 58 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Housecleaning time. Got some shows I never started, deciding if I should watch them or delete them: - Hostages - Rectify - Bate's Motel - Revenge - Salem - Broadchurch - Manhattan Rectify is well-written and engaging, but is not the sort of show that is for everyone. If you aren't hooked within the first few episodes, it probably won't get much better for you. Bate's Motel is good. I really enjoyed it. Those looking too closely for the ties to Psycho though might feel a bit left out. The ties are there, but the mother/son character dynamic is not at all what the movies would lead one to believe. Broadchurch is easily the best show in that list, at least season one. Season two takes a step down from season one, but is still quality television and equal to anything on the list. Manhattan, as ebr said, it was decent enough for a network television show. I found myself tuning out as much as tuning in by the time the first season came to a close. It is the sort of thing that might have been better as a limited run show I never was sold on Salem. It isn't bad, but there was nothing to keep me engaged with it for the long haul. I didn't get beyond the first episode of Hostages. I've already got enough shows in the vein that I watch. I didn't need to add another one that didn't clearly start off with a leg up on its similar competition. 1
thefirstofthe300 292 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 The first season of Revenge was OK. After that it devolved into a bit of a soap opera. The biggest upside to watching it would be Agent 13, aka Emily Van Camp. Otherwise, skip it. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Got some shows I never started, deciding if I should watch them or delete them: - Hostages - Rectify - Bate's Motel - Revenge - Salem - Broadchurch - Manhattan Funny, I was just thinking about clearing out some languishing shows as well. Some of them I've started and abandoned, others I haven't started yet: - The Americans (about half way thry 1st season) - Arrow - Black Sails (a few eps into season 2) - Homeland (finished season 3) - The Knick - You Me and the Apocalypse
ebr 16169 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 If you aren't hooked on "The Americans" and "Homeland" then I just don't know what to do with ya... 2
fantaxp7 191 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 There's just so much damn good TV these days.
xnappo 1611 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Yeah, Americans is great. You, Me and the Apocalypse is a lot of fun too - NOT like any of the other Apocalypse shows!
jluce50 122 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 If you aren't hooked on "The Americans" and "Homeland" then I just don't know what to do with ya... I was for a while. Homeland just sort of lost me for some reason. I'm not really sure why I haven't been watching The Americans. Too much other stuff I like, I guess.
thefirstofthe300 292 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 For some reason...I never really got hooked on Homeland. I managed to make it through the first season but that is it. I haven't even thought about the Americans yet. I will have to look that one up. I am having jluce50s problem...too much stuff to watch and so little time to do it in. Black Sails didn't grab me either. However, I think that has more to do with the fact that I have never been interested in pirates. The original Pirates of the Carribean is the only one that I have bothered to see, mostly because my sister rented it one time.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Homeland should have finished after one series, that was great, the rest was just repetitive. Didn't make it to the end of the second season

Not sure the dates/years add up though and the guy that tells you what happened "Previously on Childhood's End", sounds like Tony Blair to me Charles Dance plays a great Alien Overlord. About watch the 3rd, and last, episode now.
AdrianW 1058 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Those of you that like UK comedies should probably check out Tripped - I've only watched the first episode so far, but that was pretty damn good. It looks like it's only four episodes long.
fantaxp7 191 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I started watching Making a Murder on Netflix on Sunday thinking I'd just check out one episode before bed, then I was up through three full hour episodes. It is fantastic. If you enjoyed The Jinx you will definitely like this as it is shaping up to be better I think. Highly recommended. The first episode is a little slow but man it is an awesome documentary series thus far.
CBers 7450 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Anyone watching Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle"? Is it worth watching? Thanks. 1
dark_slayer 103 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Anyone watching Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle"? Is it worth watching? Thanks. Have it, haven't watched it. I enjoyed the other Amazon original series I watched, "Alpha House" Heard a good review, fwiw 1
fantaxp7 191 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I started watching and gave up. Good concept but it got real slow....I noticed some of the later episodes have higher ratings so I may revisit. Anyone watching Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle"?Is it worth watching? Thanks. 2
Latchmor 584 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Anyone watching Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle"? Is it worth watching? Thanks. Yeah I watched it all in a week, quite liked it 1
dranderson402 31 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Just started it last night. Got through the 1st 3 episodes. It's ok so far. The slight cliff-hanger at the end of ep3 made me want to continue watching but it was late and time for bed.
