MrWebsmith 598 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Web - it seems like it should be the opposite (243 would crash) but what version of MB Plus Classic do you have installed? Try deleting the dll and then re-installing that. 1.0.4.4 says the dll properties.. ill delete it and try to get back in.. then ill grab the new one from within mbc
MrWebsmith 598 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 yup.. all good now removed dll on that system.. started up mbc.. regrabbed mb plus 1.0.5.1 and it "seems" ok.. ill report back if anything else odd only other thing i could think of was that my downstairs box, same user, has the new views turned off.. and this one after i could get in had it defaulted to ON... didnt know if that mis-match on calling for the views or folders couldve been tripping it up.. id like to have the upstairs one as more of a "test" that i can play with to report back on the view functionality and keep the living room tv setup.. "the old way" (folders) and as my first FR on the views style.. can we get live tv view EXCLUDED or at least optionally split out.. thats a view i dont want in mbc as its right next to me in wmc... from all my views live tv seems to be not needed in this client
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Wow, I didn't even think about Live TV showing up there. What happens if you go into it...?
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 246 is up which fixes a few niggles including showing full episode names in things like next up and resume (in Chocolate anyway).
CBers 7450 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/16728-dev-build-245/?p=163753 and my response. Could you not overlay the TV show name on a thumb as other clients do, or use poster instead?
Latchmor 584 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Wow, I didn't even think about Live TV showing up there. What happens if you go into it...? Recordings display and play fine. They cope ok with the custom interface too, metatdata from the WTV is displayed. Channels Display but don't play. You get the custom interface showing 0.00 length progress bar. Server dash reports direct playing but nothing else happens. Cheers
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Thanks. I'm going to have to invest in some sort of live TV setup so that I can test these things.
Luke 42077 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 what you can do if you want is just look for the CollectionType of livetv and drop it from the result set entirely. Or you can keep it, but then once inside, drop the folder item that contains the live channels. 1
CashMoney 94 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 246, Chocolate, views. All views (obviously) reset to defaults. Changed all views back to what I use, but the views don't inherit for genres. Basically, each genre is treated as a separate folder/collection/entry/parent/whatever, so the only way to get the same view under each genre is to go into each genre and change the view for each one. That's a lot of genres to change e.g. I open TV, into genre's. I set the view to coverflow. All good. Then I go into "Animation", view is the default (poster? whichever is default), which I change to my preferred coverflow. I then exit back into genre's. I then choose "Action". Rather than the expected coverflow which I set when I was in Animation, it's the default because I assume each genre is being treated as a separate entity/level. If I go back into Animation it's remembered the view I chose fine, but I'd have to go into each and every genre and change the view to the same separately. Apart from the above, functionally it all seems to be good; I've not seen any bugs or other issues while using it. I don't use music in MB3, but I would imagine the above problem would be a bigger issue for the music views, assuming the problem exists under music. But a visual change to the top level items other than is available would be nice. Personal preference, but I don't like seeing the collage-looking-4-random-items-image as the image for Next Up, Resume, Series, Favourites, Genres, Etc which looks a little too WMC circa 2005 . I'd prefer to have a set image; can this be done already (like the IBN) or could you add function for that? If so, I'm sure I (or some of the other artistic guys around here) could knock up some default images/icons for resume, series, movies, next up, favorites, etc. Could probably recycle most from existing default images. I think coverflow, posters, thumbs et al views work great in chocolate for everything but the new top level views (page with next up, resume, etc). IMO, list provides the clearest information on what you are looking at, but not the greatest looking view. For that one page, visually I think strip is the best as it shares a tabbed view like the web client, but even pushing down to get the images, it doesn't ... don't know, just feels like something is missing? Maybe if it had some random background images like the home screen and proper icons/images ... What about if the images were above, so you had the menu/tabs on the bottom like the EHS to chose Resume, Next Up, Series, etc. Press up instead of down to expand? May not even be possible but just a thought. I'm liking the changes, and I want to use the "new" view/interface, but to my mind at least, using the existing views it just doesn't have the same chocolate feel to the look of it for that one page (yet). Hope that all makes sense
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Yes, thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure how much time I will invest at this point in creating entirely new views in Chocolate for these new items but I need to find a way to align the display prefs at least.
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 247: Don't show live tv or books views Suppress the overlay when an intro starts Make views of same type share display prefs

I'm after this as well, would love to be able to assign my own primary image to each entry in the new views as well as a backdrop. Also one thing that might be really nice on the TV side is an entry for continuing series and ended series. Also I believe the dim unselected posters core option was removed from view options page or theme options, pretty sure it was under view but I can't seem to find it now. Edited January 8, 2015 by BAS
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 I believe I can make it so you can use the IBN for those images. Also I believe the dim unselected posters core option was removed from view options page or theme options, pretty sure it was under view but I can't seem to find it now. Yes I removed that option to make room for another one because I didn't even know what it meant or was actually being used for anymore. Was it important to something you use?
Latchmor 584 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Yes I removed that option to make room for another one because I didn't even know what it meant or was actually being used for anymore. Was it important to something you use? Yeah I use it, it just makes the active poster 'pop out' a bit more as I'm surfing through them. Mine is still doing it so I guess the option is still set even though I can't see it anymore. Cheers
BAS 225 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Certain themes tap into the toggle, it was for poster view in the MB2 days and when it was checked it would dim all the other posters so then the one you had focused was brightest. It's not a major problem to me, just immediately noticeable when I entered my movies area.
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 See that's what I thought it was too but, in practice, it was not implemented that way at all consistently. I think pretty much every view does that by default so the option isn't necessary.
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 248: Upcoming TV is now included as one of the special TV views. My plug-in has been removed from the catalog but anyone who bought it can continue to use it as they have. But, if you use the new view layout, you don't need it anymore. Those views should now use your own images from IBN/General if you define them there. I think that is going to complete the changes for this version unless you guys find some show stoppers.
BAS 225 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Here's an old one that has returned, not specific to this version per say. Rotating backdrops, they use to rely on the files being in correct order or it would cause rapid changes in the rotation. So backdrop, backdrop1,backdrop2. It appears the meta manager for mb3 server doesnt keep these items in any particular order when a user deletes them and that includes the new naming and putting in the extrafanart folder. So in MBC this bug has returned. Also is there anyway to confirm that the image resizing is actually working, my movies area on extenders has become unscrollable in poster view over the last several releases and the biggest change i have here is that I'm not using meta2 and the image resize plugin anymore. Some of this art coming down from tmdb is massive anymore, 2000x3000 posters and backdrops 3840x2160. These images are eating my extenders for breakfast it feels like, and it also feels like the resize inside MBC is doing nothing. I also have seen random comments around about movies area seeming slow, wouldnt be suprised if this massive art is slowing down roku's and other clients as well. Edited January 8, 2015 by BAS
ebr 16169 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 On the backdrops I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't noticed anything goofy here but, I spend most of my non development time in MB Plus which does not rotate backdrops. I'm pretty sure the resizing is working. Look in your mbc image cache. The files in there don't have extensions but they are images. Open some of them and see if the widths match what you have set.
BAS 225 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 On the backdrops I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't noticed anything goofy here but, I spend most of my non development time in MB Plus which does not rotate backdrops. You basically would have to be in any view on any theme with backdrops on to replicate it. Find an item in your collection that has backdrops, but the numbering isnt correct, so say backdrop.jpg, backdrop3.jpg, backdrop4.jpg. Make sure you have the rotate backdrops core option on, now go to this item in mbc and focus it and watch the backdrops, you will notice a rapid rotation happen when it comes across the missing backdrop2.jpg, it displays backdrop3.jpg but instantly changes to backdrop4.jpg I'm pretty sure the resizing is working. Look in your mbc image cache. The files in there don't have extensions but they are images. Open some of them and see if the widths match what you have set. Yep according to the images in there its resizing them just not understanding why my extenders movie area is so slow, I had to switch to a list view to make it even useable.
ebr 16169 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 I can't reproduce that backdrop thing. I deleted backdrop2 from one of my movies then went into Chocolate details and it is rotating the three available backdrops every 6 seconds. I don't really see how MBC could be affected by naming conventions here as we don't even look at or care what the names are.
ebr 16169 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 Is it possible that MBC was up at the time you did the delete so it was maybe trying to display the backdrop that was gone or can you reproduce this over and over on the same item?
CashMoney 94 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) 248, IBN/General Defined folders in IBN under general with images, but of course these then override the images used on the EHS. I take it they can't be separated? Separate to the EHS, so when TV on the EHS is selected I see the rotating backdrops from my shows, but when in TV I go to Series and I see the backdrops/folder.png from the IBN/General/Series folder? Same for Movies. Alternatively, instead of separating, how about linking the images from TV to TV-Series and Movies and Movies-Movies so you get the rotating backdrops/images as used on the EHS used on the Series and Movies menu options? Hope that makes sense. Also, IBN/General/Upcoming TV isn't be used. I created a IBN/General/Upcoming TV folder with images and they're not showing. Guessing it's because it was previously a plugin and should have a IBN folder somewhere else? As a general question to folks using this new layout, what views and images are you using? Edited January 10, 2015 by CashMoney
ronvp 92 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I tried it only locally and it works well. Square theme needs to be updated to reflect remote connect. the only way I got to log into MB connect is via chocolate. I will try it remote later.. Also, I am not sure if it is this version or if it was older, but I noticed that if I select a genre, most movies are shown correctly, but if the movie is part of a collection, it pulls in the whole collection. Thus even those movies that may not be part of the same genre. It is normally not a issue, because most movies in a collection are all of the same genre. But I am using a custom (3D Movie) genre so if I select the 3D movie genre, it also pulls in movies that are not 3D just because they are part of the same collection.. Square does not have this problem.
