Vidmo 3 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 The user I have auto-logged into MB Classic has no admin permissions on the server and so this makes checking for new updates a tedious process. I have to log that user out and login with another user just to check for any updates. I would like to have a check for updates option in the MB Classic Configurator. That way I don't have to mess with the auto-logged in account. Plus, most of the time I'm conducting updates of all types via remote desktop and this would allow me to conduct checks to remote machines easier. Thanks, Vidmo
ebr 16178 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I'm afraid the configurator is being phased out but you can now install updates from any account. When an update is available a green arrow will start to glow in the tool bar in Chocolate. Click it and it will install the update.
Vidmo 3 Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Thanks EBR, I don't see this as an improvement, I don't really want the kids doing updates on their own or changing any settings for that matter. Not only that but the account logged into the HTPC does not have local admin privileges in any case. So any update will fail. I guess I'll just stick to re-running the installer once in a while as I don't physically visit all of the HTPCs and laptops very often, thus remote desktop for managing updates. PS: Media Center does not run while in Remote desktop.
CashMoney 94 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) PS: Media Center does not run while in Remote desktop. If media center is running when you remote in, it will crash/terminate. But you can run WMC again after it has terminated and it should work. It's due to the change in graphics output, as WMC needs to run in a lower quality whilst you're remoted in. This is from my experience on a win 7 32bit machine I remote into from a win 7 64 bit, I do it at least once a week when I can't be bothered to run downstairs Edited January 2, 2015 by CashMoney 1
