arrbee99 1815 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 You can't beat a good Ealing Comedy. Well, I guess you can, but not without difficulty. 1
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Oh wow, hail satan? is new. Looks interesting, thanks @@WilhelmStrokerI found it very interesting. Starts off a bit novelty but the various chapters do great work in their communities and their push for religious freedom is very interesting to watch, given the reactions.I went to a very religious school, got into thrash metal in the late eighties, so there was plenty I could relate to. 1
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 The Color of Noise. Documentary about the noise rock label Amphetamine Reptile. They were one of my favourite record labels back in the day so i thought it was a pretty good watch.
StewieGreen 160 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I saw the trailer for hail, satan and thought it might be interesting viewing. As my degrees are in Theology, I went to very religious schools too ... I guess.
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Extra Ordinary - Pretty funny Irish horror. Phantom of the Paradise - musical rock opera horror comedy film by Brian de Palma. Not a massive musical or rock opera fan but this was pretty entertaining as it's pretty much Faust meets Phantom of the Opera The killing of a chinese bookie - By John Cassavetes. Neo noir crime film. A bit slow and not much happening but some great acting.
Jdiesel 1431 Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 I watched Men in Black International last weekend. Movie was pretty mediocre but the Atmos audio track was excellent.
Guest asrequested Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 I watched Men in Black International last weekend. Movie was pretty mediocre but the Atmos audio track was excellent. That's an accurate appraisal, I think.
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Watched Parasite tonight. Really enjoyed it, probably my movie of the year. Very funny, but also pretty dark as well.
CBers 7450 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I watched Men in Black International last weekend. Movie was pretty mediocre but the Atmos audio track was excellent. Really enjoyed MIB:International. Each to their own.
Ceten 27 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Watched Parasite tonight. Really enjoyed it, probably my movie of the year. Very funny, but also pretty dark as well. I've seen Parasite in the cinema a few weeks ago and thought it was great too. Really recommend the movie!
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I've seen Parasite in the cinema a few weeks ago and thought it was great too. Really recommend the movie! Yup, definitely recommended, I now need to watch Snowpiercer as I haven't seen that yet... The setup of Parasite reminded me a bit of Borgman (people entering the lives of an upper class family)..
BillOatman 596 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 If you like nice scenery and documentaries, this is pretty good. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8999864
Jdiesel 1431 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Watched Hobbs and Shaw last night. Man was the continuity ever bad in it lol.
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Symptoms - atmospheric British seventies horror Halloween - classic in the genre, not seen this in years. Stalker - definite marmite movie. Very slow, lots of minute long shots but I really enjoyed it. The Limits of Control - another love it or hate movie. Again, very slow, not much happens. Great soundtrack with bands I like such as Boris, Sunn))) and Earth. The good, the bad and the weird. Highly entertaining action packed korean western. I saw the devil. From the same director as the good....Violent, bloody revenge thriller with a misogynist streak. Not a big fan. The happiness of the Katakuris. A Takashi Miike movie.. I'm a fan of his work but he's done so many movies it's difficult to keep up with. This is a completely bonkers movie, really enjoyed it. Lesson of the evil. Another Miike movie. Starts off slowly with good character buildup and turns very violent in the last hour. American Psycho in a high school.... Dead or Alive. Yup another Miike movie. Typical Yakuza crime movie but still a good watch. Sukiyaki Western Django. Another Miike movie, a total spaghetti western pastiche.
chef 3810 Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Just finished watching Joker... Please give that man an award! A picture of a completely broken system. I hope it never gets that bad.
Diedrich 377 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Snowpiercer is surprisingly bad....but the twist!
Diedrich 377 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 New holiday movie on Netflix: Klaus (2019) Great movie! Good storyline, good characters, beautiful animation, amazing lighting and shadows!! and a few funny moments. It definitely breaks the mold for Christmas-themed animation.
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Recently watched: Once upon a time in Hollywood. Pretty slow, not much plot and the fight scene was very violent and didn't really fit the rest of the movie (plus it brought back memories of THAT scene in American History X), but overall I still enjoyed it. You're next. A grown up Home Alone. LIked it. Lone Wolf and Cub baby cart to Hades / baby cart in peril. I'm loving these. 1
WilhelmStroker 102 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 The story of funk: One nation under a groove. I love music documentaries, this was pretty interesting. Horror Europa with Mark Gatiss. Mark Gatiss is awesome (League of Gentlemen..) and his 3 episode BBC horror documentary was a good watch. This focuses on European horror. The pigkeeper's daughter. Seventies soft porn, no story but lots of shagging. Not very good. Massacre Gun. Japanese Yakuza film noir. Loved this. Doberman Cop. More Japanese yakuza.
Diedrich 377 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 (edited) I love music documentaries.Muscle Shoals Edited December 5, 2019 by Diedrich
StewieGreen 160 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I went along to see Ford v Ferrari (wasn't really interested in seeing it). I have no interest in cars let alone racing. But this is still a pretty great movie. It was not a very flattering portrait of Ford (or Ferrari) or most of their executives. 1
Guest asrequested Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Ad Astra..... so profound. I journeyed.
Jdiesel 1431 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Ad Astra..... so profound. I journeyed. This looked interesting, I'm going to have to check it out.
