Update failure; perpetual restart

Each time the automatic updates come through for MB Server the system updates (supposedly) then tries to restart unsuccessfully.  This kills the server and I can restart it manually, but it will continue to try to restart every few hours.  When I go check the update never took

 

Eventually, I have to uninstall the current version, download the latest version and install it manually.

 

Also, when updates come through MB Classic in WMC I choose update and it never works.  Similarly, I have to uninstall and reinstall.

 

I am using Win7 Ultimate 32 Bit.

I occasionally had a failure to install automatic updates. When I encountered this I would let the server download the update and I would extract the zip myself. To install the update I would close the server, rename the old system directory to system.old and copy the updated folder to the server directory. Restarting the server showed the update was successful.

 

After troubleshooting this I discovered if I reboot my system completely at least every so often the updates do automatically apply and restart the server as it should.

Sounds like some sort of permissions issue in the Windows account.

What sort of permissions issues?  The account has full admin rights.

Could be UAC settings or sometimes, in rare cases, Windows can corrupt a user profile and it can't even properly access its own area.

 

Posting the logs from %appdata%\MediaBrowser-Installlogs\ would be helpful.
