trusselo 225 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) just a thought i had, just making sure you have your bases covered.... has your site/service user agreement been updated (and notified existing users of an update) to include features related to MB Connect? there may be privacy issues or concerns regarding the storage of IP addresses ect for MB connect purposes... linking account to a physical server... giving others access (guest accounts). what happens if there is unauthorized access? manipulation or loss of data? who's fault is it? I dont remember seeing an email notifying me of any updates. I dont have any issues, and love the new features but can imagine some other people. just making sure your "i"s are dotted and "t"s are crossed Edited December 15, 2014 by trusselo 2
trusselo 225 Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 afraid to say it but might be time to have a lawyer take a look at things. perhaps there is a community member / lawyer that would like to "help" pro-boner
trusselo 225 Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 also might want to burn thread after reading...
Vicpa 611 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Excellent points. For the protection of the development team I think it is a good idea. Along the same lines, where possible l recommend making things explicit choices opt in or opt out, connect, usage stats etc. Realize somethings can't be optional but then need to be covered with agree to terms and conditions. Sadly the US at least seems to be litigation driven at times. Would hate to see any problems.

trusselo 225 Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 im sure nobody ever thinks that their after-work project is going to need a lawyer someday. usually not until you NEED one.
Beardyname 198 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 im sure nobody ever thinks that their after-work project is going to need a lawyer someday. usually not until you NEED one. Indeed, but luckily the connect feature is opt-in not opt-out
trusselo 225 Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Indeed, but luckily the connect feature is opt-in not opt-out opt-in or opt-out, doesn't matter in the long run, there must be a clear legal description of what you are OPTing to. for opt-out features, the user agreement must be amended first, notified to the users, then the product can roll out safely. for opt-in features, you can have a service agreement/ terms of service/additional agreement presented to the user AS they opt-in. in both cases you need to keep track (via account) that they have been notified and/or agreed. Oh I agree, but at least if it's opt-in they have a bit more time (imo) to work this sort of thing out.
