Progress Bar on playback - MBT can't determine track length?

I'm using the latest release of MBT and have an issue when playing back -some- MKV tracks.  When mousing-over a playing track, I see the normal status information (track name, time, progress bar + controls, etc.).  However, for some tracks the progress bar is "full" (i.e. looks like the track is about to end) and there is just a counting timer,  Described a different way, it seems like MBT can't figure out the track length and thus I am unable to jump to different parts of the track (or stop and resume).

 

Is this a known issue?

What is the format of those items?  Does the metadata manager show a valid length for them?  What about other media info?  What happens if you refresh them?

It could also be happening if it's transcoding instead of direct playing
