roku mediacentre app crashes when signing in after entering password. please help

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. Can you tell me what version you are using and have you tried connecting using MB3 Connect? Also has it only recently started happening or have you just installed media centre?

i dont know what version i cant find that info, mb3 connect is not an option although it was. it is up to date as i do update check on roku all the time. iv bought mb mediacentre months ago signed in once and wasent asked again until a few days ago for password. app force closes after hitting ok when entering password.

Sorry for the delay, that does sound strange and is something that I have not recreated. Are you saying that the app will now not even let you enter via mb3 connect? If it's still not working we will have to try to debug to find what is going on.

Hey im85288...  Since version 2.17 came out I have not been able to connect either.  I just gave up and used the lite version.  Today I decided to figure this out and get the fancy version working again (couldn't take not having my eye candy and grid view any longer).  During set up I always use manual configuration for the server.  After choosing the port # hitting next will boot me back to the Roku main screen.  Tried it 20 times since 2.17.  Gave up as already stated...

 

This morning knowing that the other two clients work on Roku, and not knowing how to fix the issue with Mediacentre, I UNINSTALLED my entire media browser, cache, everything except my IBN folder (that's quite a few gig that I didn't want to replace).  System is still rebuilding, but same outcome as before.  This time I tried the PIN deal also.  It did recognize that I registered the pin on line, it automatically passed that screen.  But then again booted me back to Roku screen.  Went and tried again...  Asked again for a PIN, skipped to do a manual connection and my server name was already there.  Chose it and back to the Roku menu again.

 

So I guess I am left scratching my head...  An almost clean install of Media Browser.  What can Media Centre be looking at that the others are not?

There must be something going wrong somewhere with the new Connect code that wasn't there when roku tested it or indeed others, leave it with me and I'll get something sorted out as soon as I figure out what's causing it.

same problem here, can not get it to work, was able to use the trial once and after that no luck at all, tired of the circle of death.

Version 2.18 has been submitted to the store, it usually takes approx 1-2 weeks before they approve it. I'm very surprised that there were so many issues and that Roku approved it so I can only imagine something changed server side after release of 2.17.

Follow Up...  Thanks for getting the new version into Roku's hands.  Hopefully they will get it out before NEXT Christmas! 

 

I was wrong about the other apps working.  The only app that works for me is the lite version!  I was running the old Media Browser channel and it worked as well.  The Media Browser for Roku channel does not.  Does almost the same thing as 2.17.  Its got to be that Media Browser Connect addition that messed everything up for me.  With a static IP I REALLY don't need that feature...  but I understand why it may be covenant for others.

 

BTW to try and resolve my on going issues last night I got fed up and FORMATED my entire computer...  No Joy, No Luck.  The Roku aps that include the connect feature do not work!

Yes I hope so too!! They take their sweet time when it suits them.

 

Wish it could be quicker but it's out of my control :(

Hi,I'm having the same problem,as soon as I enter the code to link it ,crashes back to the home screen,same happens when I enter it manually.forget to say I bought the app last week..

The sad truth is it varies extremely, there are occasions when they test and approve within a week of submitting. The worst I have experienced so far is 5 months. I will send them another reminder but it normally does not have much effect (if responded too.)

I could not use any of the Roku Channels after the connect versions came out a few months ago...  After not being able to use them I got them ALL working a few days ago.  Pretty positive connect versions made UDP traffic extremely important!  Check this thread and see if it helps...

If your blocking UDP to the server it WILL cause what you guys are seeing.  It was frustrating to me as well, not understanding why they all worked before the latest versions came out.

I would suggest creating a Roku log and let the folks in the know take a look at them...  Again i can not stress the importance of UDP and now creating a Roku log file so they can help you figure it out...

 

I also paid for the Mediacenter apalmost a year ago, but its hard to help without some logs to work with.  Tust me when i say if you fix Media Browser OR Media Centre it will fix the other...

 

im85288, and the other folks on this forum WILL help to resolve the issue, if you give them info to work with,

Version 2.18 has finally been approved and is in the store now. One bonus with it taking so long is I updated the Trakt stuff to use their new API.

 

Any problems connecting or anything else please report back.
