manuelvejarano 1 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Hello everyone. I’m having trouble with .srt subtitle recognition in Emby 4.10.2. External .srt subtitles are not being detected—this is also the case for subtitles within .mkv files. I’ve encountered this with two different videos. I run the media server on Windows, and I haven’t experienced issues like this before. For example: one video (.mkv) has embedded subtitles, while another has a separate .srt file. The separate file isn’t recognized; when I test it, subtitles do appear, but only when I select one of the embedded ones (which are in a different language than the .srt file). Note that I did try including the language abbreviation in the filename. In the second video (.mkv), none of the embedded (SSA) subtitles are recognized. Anny suggestion?
Luke 43524 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
manuelvejarano 1 Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago These are the specifications of the video that is causing me problems: These are the details regarding the video that is causing me issues: 1. When I open the video, it indicates that it will load the Korean audio and the .srt subtitle file. 2. The video plays without any issues, but no subtitles are displayed. 3. Subtitles embedded within the MKV file load correctly. 4. If I switch from the .srt subtitle to an embedded one, a subtitle does appear—but it is the wrong one. In the image, you can see that French is selected, yet it displays the Spanish subtitle (the .srt file). You will also notice in the image that there are two Spanish subtitle tracks (one with the extension ".es.srt", and the other named "movie.srt", which I included for testing purposes.

Luke 43524 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Hi, sounds like you charged the video file or subtitle files outside of Emby. Try refreshing the metadata on that video and see if that helps.
